Plunge Pool...Royal Question

When it's hot and humid, all some people need is a pool to cool off.

Boy, I sure hope they emphasize the need to shower before "plunging". You are correct that taking a quick plunge is a cure for being hot and sticky. But unless people shower first, (which almost defeats the purpose of the "plunge"), that little pool will become a caldron of human soup in no time. Fewer gallons of water=higher concentrations of sweat.

Please. You know Princess. Parents will be dipping their dirty babies' bottoms in it to clean them up and nothing will be said.

Ugh. Please shower first.

Actually, the area around it with about an inch of water looks like a better place to cool off and because of the movement of the ship that area should "exchange" the water in it more often than the pool itself.

I would have preferred a real pool, but of course that would have meant a deep pool-well protruding down to the deck below, which prevents adding more revenue producing cabins. That is usually the reason why a "real" pool is not built. At least the splash pool is something, and a full size pool is not far away. I just wish they would have kept the same number of pools as the Grand Class, which are probably some of the best ships afloat in terms of deck space and pools. It's not just RP, but all the major mega new builds these days seem a bit short on pools and deck space. More people packed into fewer facilities. That is the trend.

This plunge pool is the one thing that surprised me. I've been following Royal's development since she was announced. I always thought it was a regular pool but a bit smaller than the one next to it. Very disappointed. That's going to turn into a kids pool instantly. I really see the Adult pool being packed to get away from MUTS.

There is very little pool space on this ship - it even lacks the separate pool/hot tub in the kids' area that some of the Grand-class has. I kept hoping that the main pool at least would be proportionately larger, but you could see very clearly on the "dramamine" video that British travel agent posted the other day that it is not significantly longer than on the other ships. So yes, this is a bigger ship with functionally less than one-half the pool space of the other smaller ships. Perhaps Princess is trying to save on their chlorine bill?

:) I think they're shrinking everything that doesn't bring in revenue. Being by the pool could take you out of the casino and god forbid you enjoy time on your deck, we can't sell you drinks out there ;)

...just saw a picture of the plunge pool from another post. Our first reaction was "Wow! what a waste of space." As someone already said, is Princess trying to save on chlorine....or perhaps weight?

It will be perfect for: cleaning your feet, children, short people who don't know how to swim, golf chipping competition (big hole!), and regrettably....a cesspool of germs.
