Back to Back Question

We booked a 14 day which is actually 2 7 day cruises but we have 1 booking number. Will we get new cards for the second leg and also, what about the coffee card? Just wondering. We have one booking number. Thanks

1. Yes, you will get a new card for the 2nd leg

2. If you buy your coffee card when you board, it will be good for the entire 14 days for unlimited fresh brewed. Any unused punches can always be used on another ship.

Thank you. I'm glad about the card since we really only use it for the brewed coffee and if we had to buy twice it may not be worth it. I wonder then since the first portion makes my husband elite, if the second week will give him the status (for internet mainly) So we have to check out and back in? We are doing an excursion with Princess that day so I assume it will be all worked out.

If you have any problem using it for fresh brewed on the second segment, speak to a supervisor and point out you are still on the single voyage you booked.

Forgive me if someone has already answered this, but you do not get double days for cruising solo on Princess. You get 2 cruise credits (3 if you're solo in a full suite), but only credit for the number of days sailed. It doesn't matter what percentage price you pay. If you do, let us know because I have a lot of cruise days I'd be fighting for. LOL.

sadly I get better information here then from princess lol it's a NO to double days and a yes for 2 cruise credits for b2b and when I get home I will call to get 2 credits for solo I hope, again not a fair assessment with many days (not counting b2b or the many day cruises that can get broken down to more then 1 cruise) on a 10-12-14-16 etc. day cruise only 1 cruise credit, the same as someone on a 1-2-3-4-5 etc day cruise gets 1 credit. I don't take short cruises like that and so it will be a long time before I reach 31 cruises with Princess, have many more then that counting other lines........but, again, I'm grateful for the perks awarded to Elite and my stock benefits. sighhhhh just 2 weeks (14 days) till I will be leaving........omg..............almost here. :)

Something is confused here. The internet credit starts with Platinum, so if your spouse is becoming Elite, he should already have the credit. A cruise is defined as a booking number. As I understand it, you have booked one long cruise that could also be booked as two shorter cruises. The status change would then happen at the end of the cruise (booking number). However, so have reported talking to the Captains Circle rep and getting an earlier bump in status.

Sorry my error. He will become Platinum!

Of course you can go directly back to your cabin. Or eat again. :D You won't need to pack anything, so there's no reason not to go back.

Thanks that's what we were hoping for.

No problem.

Since you booked as one cruise the status update will not occur until you leave the ship. Some people have reported that sweet talking/begging the Cap. Cir. Rep. has worked. :)

Thanks! More of my concern was the coffee card not working for 2 weeks. If only 1 week, most likely we won't purchase since we really only use it for the brewed.

I don't know anyone who has ever had a problem using a coffee card on a B2B. By the end of cruise #1 they will already know you and you won't even have to show your card. In any event, you don't give it to them for fresh brewed; just flash it.

You will automatically get 2 cruise credits for cruising solo (3 if you're solo in a full suite). From what I read here, if you booked a 14 day cruise which is also being sold as 2 - 7 day cruises you can ask for the cruise credits for the 2nd cruise. I am doing my first B2B soon and I wasn't aware of this, so I'm happy to know I can call and ask for the additional cruise credits. I originally wanted to book my cruise as 2 - 7 day cruises for the obvious advantages, but the price of the 14 day cruise was too good to pass up. Thanks to everyone for the information on that.

Same here! The 14 day cost about 150pp less and was a steal! Also, port costs were less by about $70 pp with the combined. Can't figure that out.

Be sure to consider the OBC you will get when deciding how to book. As the cruises get longer, you can get more OBC and it may wipe out the one booking savings.

It is a good idea to compare the total cost including military, shareholder & FCC OBCs which sometimes results in a lower cost by booking as a b2b.

I had to do a spreadsheet. It got that complicated (which is something you can't say on Celebrity or RC as they don't stack the OBCs). Then Princess changed the FCC OBCs and we have some of each, so I had to do if-then formulas and toggle the FCC type, then we're about to hit a higher CC OBC level, so I had to consider that....

I remember when we just booked cruises and were done with it. :o Princess' generosity confuses the issue.

However, on the Royal Princess, it seems much more restrictive about which way you can book a cabin. Some are only available as single cruises; others only as combined cruises.

I've experienced the affects of 'yield management' even on a cruise that I booked 21 months in advance on the Crown so I'm not surprised that they're doing the same thing on the Royal. ;)

Thanks. we did book with Princess so no onboard credit (except the Military if we get it -mailed in the paperwork yesterday) and that too is better as the 14 day and not 2 at 7 days. Our main benefit of the 2 seven day would have been my husband becoming Platium mid cruise. We will also save on the coffee cards since we have 1 cruise so it will be good for the entire time. Also, we didn't want to change cabins so in the end it worked for us this time!

If you will be sailing with Princess in the future, consider buying the Future Cruise Credits while on board. They are a great deal and no risk. Also, if you own 100 shares of Carnival Corp. (owns Princess and others), you get OBC every time you sail on any of their ships. Same amount as the Military.

We book early, so we have always gotten the same cabin for all legs, except the Grand Princess around South America earlier this year. We had to move for the third leg.

So all these OBC can be combined? I had read someplace that the military OBC can not be used for casino or gratituties? do the others work like that as well. Sounds like the stockholder is really good as well. We do not own but may think about it. thanks again for all your help.

Yes, they can all be combined.

While technically the military OBC is not supposed to be used for casino or gratuities, it would be exceedingly rare for someone to run into this problem.

All OBC is added as a credit to your on-board folio. As it is co-mingled with all your other expenses and credits, as long as you have other valid expenses such as excursions, drinks, specialty restaurants, photos, gift shops, and such which exceed your military OBC, you'll be fine.
