Personal choice.Mine would be Equinox. I've been to all the ports and think that the ports on Equinox would be better. Also think that the more Northerly route would more likely bring rough seas, especially near Azores.

hulamoon Posted November 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Equinox ports are very good. Also depends if you want to disembark in England or Spain.
USVI-4-me Posted November 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Equinox for the ports. If the ship disembarks in Barcelona, plan a couple of nights post-cruise. Barcelona airport is a favorite of ours for our US arrivals and departures. -Marisa

For me, a key factor would be -- where do you want to end up, and might you spend some extra days there? If that doesn't matter to you, then I would pick the Equinox because of the ports. Enjoy your crossings!
Twickenham Posted November 14, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Let me be the lone one who would take the Eclipse in a flash - Bermuda & ending up in the UK. No contest.
simon stingray Posted November 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Equinox is going into to dry dock for maintenance immediately after this transatlantic sailing. Someone posted on another thread that this could cause a small amount of disruption during this sailing as they may close off some public areas whilst they start preparation work. Perry grant will be onboard the Eclipse which may be a positive or a negative depending on your personal opinion. Although I enjoy Perry, I would choose Equinox for the itinerary. north29 Posted November 14, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Equinox next spring. Ports were important, also have a tour after from the same booking with a local, for us, TA with an additional 10 days in Spain. From Malaga, it is easy to get a tour to Morocco and some interesting areas in the South of Spain
Gig103 Posted November 14, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 14, 2013 That Equinox itinerary sounds way better to me too!

Do you want to go to Britain or Spain? I would expect that you would spend a little time in Europe at the end of the cruise. Both locations are great. h20cruzer Posted November 14, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 14, 2013 I like both, however my deciding factor would be the airfare. Flying out of Malaga???? I know I can usually get cheap flights out of Heathrow. If the fares are equal or close with would do Equinox. norma
vivi9909 Posted November 15, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 15, 2013 We already made our choice: we are booked on the Equinox! The main factor is the destination; we are planning to stay for 9 days on the Costa del Sol after the cruise. We feel that the beginning of May is a good period to visit South Spain; for UK, we would prefer July and would do a TA on Cunard. We also expect warmer weather on the Atlantic after the Azores if we continue to Malaga rather than UK.
Dame Delilah Posted November 15, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 15, 2013 We will be on that trip on the Equinox. Been to all the ports in the past and it will be much nicer to end in Malaga than Southampton. Just my opinion.
excitedofharpenden Posted November 15, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 15, 2013 I'd take Equinox. Those last three sea days on Eclipse from the Azores to Southampton will be very chilly. The sea's quite a bit colder than it is if you stay a bit further south and head toward Lisbon as you will on Equinox. It's a better itinerary too.
