The New Celebrity Captains Club is Here!

Well I just got off the phone with Captains Club. When checking my new status I noticed an 18 night South America cruise was showing zero points beside it. They informed me I didn't get any points as it was a free cruise. I laughed out loud as I thought he was kidding. I would certainly remember a free cruise!!

I have my key card but as it was in 2008 I no longer have the paper work. To bad they say, without it they can not give me any points.

I have decided to let it go as it is not worth my time to pursue. I am already Elite and it won't change my status. I think it is sad that the onus is on me top prove I paid and not on them to show me I didn't.

Very disappointed in Celebrity.

I must say the agent I spoke to was terrific. He couldn't have been nicer. I know he was embarrassed by it all but we enjoyed a laugh over it. I think he was just thankful I found the humour in it.

My husband said we should get our credit card to give us proof we paid as then Celebrity will owe us the free cruise. Lol

I know that on line I can go back many, many years' of Visa statements.

As I mentioned in another post, our recent cruise on Reflection had about 2100 Captain's CLub members, 1200 of which were Elite. I don't know which venue they might have chosen for the cocktail party. We received vouchers and a couple of bars became regular meeting areas for those Elite members who enjoy the 5-7. The tables even had the CC menus with available voucher drinks on them. It seemed like plenty of people were socializing and getting to know new people. The even came around with hors d'oeuvres. And those who do not enjoy those gatherings too much had the chance to use the vouchers elsewhere, so to us it did not seem like too bad a deal.

Thanks so much. I had missed your previous post on this. Hope we get to find a regular group, since we will be sailing Saturday on the Eclipse for a 14-nighter. There will probably be lots of Elites. We were on a 10-nighter in April on the Equinox and the Sky Lounge was crowded but not too, and we made some great friends with about 3 special couples that we enjoyed a number of nights socializing with there. It's our 30th anniversary and we are giving ourselves the perfect anniversary gift - a Celebrity cruise!

The biggest perk I like for RCCL over Celebrity is the balcony discount. That is the one that will be the deal maker for me if all things are equal.

Just for fun, I calculated how many points I would have when I factored in my cabin points along with nights. We've done everything from inside to concierge on Celebrity. All our cruises have been seven or more days. I had to guess on a couple of them if they were 10 days or 12 days, etc. Anyway, I actually came up with fewer points than what I received. Something like 290. We have 11 old points which came to 330 and kept the Elite level.

We never set out to attain any loyalty level. Just sorta fell into it taking cruises we wanted to take, at a price we wanted to pay, on an itinerary we liked, at a time we were available.

When RCCL did the conversion and threw us out of the Diamond Lounge, we were only one cruise short of D+. We still were one cruise short of D+ after the conversion. I can't tell you how many people suggested we hop on a cruise just to get to Diamond+. My feeling was why would I want to spend $1.5K just to have access to the concierge lounge?

Sorry to be so dense. Let me see if I understand.

You did a 10-day and got one point

Then you did a back to back in an ocean view. One of the cruises was 12 days so the two cruises should have gotten a total of 3 points. But it almost sounds like it might have been a 5-day and 7-day for a total of 12 days. If that is the case, then whoever said you would get a bonus point was wrong.

So you would have 3 points if your back to back cruises totaled 12 days or 4 if one of them was 12 days.

You say you have 3 booked but only list a 15-night Panama cruise. Since that has not sailed, it will earn points under the new program or 15 times whatever category you are booked in (I think you are saying OV so that would be a total of 30 points in the new program.

Does this make any sense to you? I'm not sure how clear I am being.

the back to back where 2 7 days on the summit we stayed in same room it be a total of 14 days, all im saying is we booked this 15 night and paid for it in april we should get the 2 points to bring us to select on next cruise in jan 15

OK, now I understand. The back to back would not have earned anything extra for being more than 12 nights. You were mis-informed.

And even though you feel that a cruise booked under the old rules should gain points that way, the program was not set up to do that. They only converted completed cruises. It's too bad as it was possible for them to do it but it was also possible for people to cancel booked cruises after they did the conversion.

Maybe a compromise would have been to convert any cruises that were paid for and past penalty dates, but they didn't do that, either. So unfortunately, you are doomed to be disappointed, but I do understand your frustration.

We have two 14 day cruises booked in inside cabins. How many points will we get for each cruise? Not that is matters. We are elite plus and will never get to zenith!

Best guess based on many posts is that Celebrity tried to keep people who were within 2 or 3 points of making Elite pretty close to the same.

I think (my observation/interpretation based on reading posts) is that they gave points as follows ( I KNOW I saw posts about the 8 & 9 points and THINK I saw some about 7 points):

For those with 9 points, the conversion was 9 * 30 plus 16 for 286. 1 cruise (7 nights in Inside/OV, 5 nights in a balcony, 3 nights in CC/AQ or 2 nights in any suite) would still make them Elite

For those with 8 points, the conversion was 8 * 30 plus 25 for 270. 1 cruise (15 nights in Inside/OV, 10 nights in a balcony, 6 nights in CC/AQ or 4 nights in any suite) would still make them Elite OR Two cruises as listed for the folks with 9 points would still make them Elite (except it would take 15 total nights in the inside/OV categories)

For those with 7 points, the conversion was 7 * 30 plus 40 for 240. 1 cruise (12 nights in CC/AQ or 8 nights in any suite) OR 2 cruises that totaled12 nights in CC/AQ or 8 nights in any suite) OR 3 cruises that totaled 10 nights in Inside/OV, 7 nights in a balcony, 4 nights in CC/AQ or 3 nights in any suite would still make them Elite

For all intents and purposes, the same number of cruises/cabin categories would still take them to Elite. They did not "protect" those who were close to Select nor did they do anything for people who were close to what the assumed/hoped would be the new next tier.

I have 8 points which now equal 240 +25 = _265_. Two cruises bkd. Both best inside. One 13 nites. Would have been 2 points for total of 10 and we would have been elite for second cruise of 14 nites. No way I'm paying for balcony with what there asking. Not good for us.

Check post # 831. It has the earnings chart. An inside cabin gets 2 points/night so your two cruises will earn a total of 56 points.

Your were, unfortunately on the edge. The 25 bonus points only almost kept you at the same point. You'll be at 291 points after the 13 night cruise. Your best hope is to watch for price drops so you can move up to a balcony at a price you are OK with.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Here is the line (starting at Select so it isn't available for Classic but it is for all others) in the benefits list and I don't think this is new.

• Priority embarkation while boarding the ship (where available)

As you acknowledged, it is not at Classic level. However it is at Gold level.

It doesn't appear as if any of the current Elite benefits were watered down or eliminated. Did I miss anything? I was impressed that we didn't lose any benefits and look forward to our next cruise.

I was surprised that a 11-day cruise in an inside cabin isn't worth very many points. I would have thought there would be a points premium for the "longer than 4 and 7 day" cruises since they are harder to make time for.

I think those that are Elite Plus are the ones that are not happy with the perks offered.

Celebrity is giving the higher points to those booking the higher category ($$$$) staterooms in place of length of cruise.

I guess I really am dense. I thought it was 2 points per cruise, not night. Oh well, 56 points. I need only 2200 more!

I did as you suggested and after some digging I found my visa statement with the full payment on it. So much for the free cruise!!!

I think I might fax it just to show them I was telling the truth.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah! I'm glad you found it and I hope that they give you the much deserved points. Keep taking it up the line until you get a resolution.

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

why not be happy- more-finally- internet minutes and 2 bags of laundry.. i would like free water and good coffee-thought that was included.

i was lucky as i do sail in AQ class or small suites- you pay plenty for them too.

Wish the conversion had looked at the kind of rooms we were in historically rather than the straight multiple. Straight multiple gives us around 1600 points a long way of Zenith and therefore not in itself an incentive to stay loyal if that is an aim of the programme.

If however you applied the current value of the suites we were in on 14-16 night cruises we would have around 2400 points and very much an incentive to keep going......

However we are blessed we can cruise, who knows if one day we will make the highest level but in the meantime we will enjoy what perks we get.

Check your status on Celebrity's website, if they gave you 30 bonus points you might be Elite +:):)

As far as I am aware the addition of bonus points is to balance a situation where your current status is for example Select and nearing Elite and converting to tier points moves you further away, so they give bonus points to make up for that. I don't think they'd issue bonus points that moves you from one level to a higher level. Perhaps Jack can confirm that via the link on "My Celebrity".

One of the perks we enjoyed most : "priority tendering for Elites" does not seem to be there anymore. Or did I just miss it ?

The way I look at it, is that I would cruise no matter what the perks are, but whatever they choose to give me is one more thing I didn't have before, whether I use it or not.

If I designed the program, I would have given a few more perks to Elite+. Maybe a dinner in a specialty restaurant or a free shore excursion up to a certain price. But I didn't design it and for the record, I'm only one cruise away from Elite, so I don't have a horse in the race and may never have one, because I might never get to Elite+.

Hey, and you never know, they may add additional perks after they see the feed back from those that were just made Elite+, but please make your suggestions realistic and maybe they will listen.

It is going to take a long time for us to become plus. They gave us 30 points per credit. We have 2 cruises book, a 5 day outside and 7 day Veranda. Those two would have given us 2 credits or 60 points, but we will only be getting 31 points for both. I don't know how they came up with the statement "We've made sure your progression to Elite Plus is faster than ever before". It certainly doesn't look that way from where I sit. I think they should Grandfather anything you already have booked.

When you think about it, if someone can afford the cost of the Reflection Suite, why would they need a $6.75 discount on a dinner???
