Retiring cajun Posted November 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Is there underbed storage on new Royal Princess? I have only cruised once, on Island Princess. I didn't even think to check under the bed!:)
CruiserBruce Posted November 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Best to ask on the Princess board, but under bed storage is very common.
sail7seas Posted November 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Every ship we've ever been on, we have been able to put our luggage under the bed.
Colorado Kat Posted November 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2013 If you have soft-sided luggage there should be lots of space. If you have hard-sided luggage it might be a problem, depending on how large your bag is.
Rare Scrapnana Posted November 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2013 I've always had underbed storage, also. If you have large hard-sided luggage, leave it open and it should fit.

kcwingwalker Posted November 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Luggage under the bed and out of sight out of mind. You won't need it again until the last night of your cruise.
Treven Posted November 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I also store my luggage under the bed, leaving one open to act as a laundry basket. You may need to lift up the bed frame to slide your luggage under, but that's not a problem. You'll probably notice that your cabin steward will have extra bedding under there as well. Guest maddycat Posted November 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2013 We have large hardside luggage that we always store under the bed. We've never had a problem sliding them under the bed. We've never had to lift the bed or open the suitcases to do this.
Retiring cajun Posted November 23, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted November 23, 2013 Thanks for the responses! I never would of thought of looking under the bed. Of course my only cruise was on Island Princess with very large closet space. Does anyone know if we can ask for a flat sheet? The comforters are warm for us. bob brown Posted November 23, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 23, 2013 Some ships have a storage drawer that takes up part of the space, but there is still room for suitcases. I have a couple of hard-sides (the older real hard sides, not the new 'hybrid' semi hard side). One is a bit too deep to fit under without lifting the bed rail. And if you do put it under that way, it will in effect make your bed feel harder, as the mattress may rest on it and not 'give' as much...the suggestion to leave it open would solve that problem..... SeaTeach Posted November 24, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Nesting the cases will work if you have different sizes. We've done that when bedding was stored under there. If you run into problems maybe the cabin steward will help out by removing the stored bedding.
Rare Teeara Posted November 25, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Definitely room to store under the bed although as mentioned above I, too, have found extra bedding as well as extra life preservers under the bed. I just ask the steward to move them elsewhere and they do. Make sure you check completely when you pack to leave! On my first cruise my camera tripod got pushed back against the wall and I totally missed it until I got home.
