Rare Keith1010 Posted December 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2013 There are many good lines. The key is to find the one that you like. Like most things we all have our own preferences. Keith
sherilyn70 Posted December 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2013 So far it is the one that has the itinerary and prices that I like at the time. I have no "favorite" that I have to live by as of yet. I'm about to try out my 3rd cruise line next year.
paul929207 Posted December 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Our favorite is Princess because we love their itineraries. We have been all over the world with them.
kcwingwalker Posted December 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2013 For now it's NCL because I can drive to the port and that is a big plus.
dolittle Posted December 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2013 They are all good (have been on all but Princess) but Celebrity just always has that little something extra (class).
beachbum53 Posted December 7, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2013 will be taking a cruise this year once i decide when and where. just wondering what your fav cruise line is and what about that one do you like the most Since we've only cruised on Royal Caribbean and Carnival, it wouldn't be fair to say that one or the other is our "favorite". We tend to choose Carnival, based on itinerary and price. However, there are other lines that we would like to try if our budget allowed it. Although there are some similarities among the mass market lines, such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL, etc., there are differences unique to each line. Every cruise line has their fans and detractors. You'll get a wide variety of opinions on here about each of the cruise lines. Two things I would recommend: (1.) Talk to a cruise specialist in you area, and try to find one that does not heavily favor one cruise line over all others. What one person likes or dislikes won't be exactly the same as someone else. (2.) If there is a vacation and travel show scheduled to be in your area in the near future, make plans to go. (We have one here at the state fairgrounds every year in February). You'll be able to talk to reps. from the various cruise lines, as well as cruise agents that can answer your questions. I'm sure you'll find the cruise line that best matches what you're looking for. Fair warning: Cruising can be very addictive, and there is no known cure. Once you're hooked, you'll be addicted forever.:D
CruiserBruce Posted December 7, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2013 I could say Holland America, for the sake of argument. So, you have 6 or 7 answers, and they are all different, and none of them are wrong. So, as mentioned, you need to do the research, and decide what sounds "best" for you. There are other factors to consider when booking a cruise, like itinerary.
OCruisers Posted December 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 7, 2013 We cruise on many different cruise lines but Princess is the best fit for us and is our absolute favorite. :) LuLu ~~~
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 7, 2013 Right now we are sailing with HAL -- have also cruised on Cunard, NCL, RCI and are Elite members on Princess. We like the larger cabins and friendly crew of HAL.
cruiserking Posted December 7, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 7, 2013 We enjoy Cunard for the terrific service, delicious meals, traditional ocean liner ambience and beautiful ships, the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth. Holland America Line is a close second with their wonderful ships, service particularly partial to the Noordam and Eurodam. Celebrity is a another favorite. We have only cruised on the Summit but, would love to cruise on their newer Solstice Class ships like Silhouette, Reflection, Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox. We would also love to try Princess one day, the new Royal Princess looks really beautiful. Jonathan
NMLady Posted December 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) will be taking a cruise this year once i decide when and where. just wondering what your fav cruise line is and what about that one do you like the most If we could afford it we would cruise Oceania more. There are no formal evenings. The specialty restaurants are included in the fare. The ships are much smaller than most other cruise ships. But for the cost difference we usually cruise NCL or HAL or Celebrity depending on itinerary and price. Edited December 8, 2013 by NMLady
Rare BlueRiband Posted December 8, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 8, 2013 will be taking a cruise this year once i decide when and where. just wondering what your fav cruise line is and what about that one do you like the most What I love on Cunard are the white glove afternoon teas, formal nights (the more the better) and the sociability on board an elegant the ship. Announcements are minimum - there is an operational update at Noon and nothing else unless absolutely necessary. We are adults who have the activity schedule and we will show up for what interests us. Wonderfully relaxing seas days especially on transatlantics. And, Cunard passengers don't put up tacky door signs to spoil an elegantly appointed ship. I've not wanted to try another line because they don't have the elegance and formality that I love. Colorado Kat Posted December 9, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 9, 2013 We've mostly sailed Carnival. My daughters (started as teens, now 22) like the teen clubs/young adult vibe. We mostly go to the Caribbean, as they like the warm weather. Though we did love the our Mediterannean cruise this past year. We like the comedians, the shows, and the Piano Bar. Rare Scrapnana Posted December 10, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) I have enjoyed every cruise I have taken and they have all been on different lines (my next cruise will be my first repeat). In picking a cruise, I choose where I want to go, when, how much I want to spend and then check out various cruise lines to see what is available. notentirelynormal Posted December 10, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I've been on 3 different lines and my favorite is Princess. I like the decor style. I don't like flashy. I love the employees, the ships, the on board experience and so much more. Another cruise line I feel gave terrible service and distrustful employees. Like others have said it's all about personal preferences. I don't like the ships with the "bells and whistles". I like ships to be ships, not a floating mall or amusement park. My kids and now grandkids don't need to use a flow rider to have fun. I don't like the huge ships. Others on this board will tell you they love that. Only you can decide. I think Princess gives you formal but not FORMAL. Every line gives you choices. You have to decide where your priorities lie. Formal, all inclusive, small ships, big ships, beautiful suites, inside cabins, price, itinerary. It is a very personal decision.
cruzeluver Posted December 10, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Currently our favorite is Celebrity. IMHO for not much more money they provide far better service, food and ambiance than the other lines we have sailed.
Gunner22aa Posted December 10, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 10, 2013 But it might not be for you. As we sail in suites we have found the perks that we get from Princess to be ones that we use. All lines offer extended ammenities to their suite passengers and those in the upper tiers of their loyality programs. Some are meaningfull and others are fluff. For us Princess has less of the fluff and more of the meat.
mikeriv79 Posted December 10, 2013 #21 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We cruise NCL. We've found they have the most reasonable prices and we like the freestyle concept. We would be open to trying other lines for the experience.
At Sea 4Ever Posted December 10, 2013 #22 Share Posted December 10, 2013 For us Royal has made it so that cruising another line doesn't even come up in discussion. We are loyal to royal because they offer everything and we are never disappointed!
jocap Posted December 14, 2013 #23 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Great you have a favorite ship! Which is it? LuLu ~~~~ :) At the moment, Ventura, but we've not tried RCI yet, nor Cunard, so I've a feeling that it will become the QM2! ;)
obnurse Posted December 19, 2013 #24 Share Posted December 19, 2013 For us, elite on Princess, currently booked on 3rd Celebrity but would like to try RC. Their ships intrigue me :-). On Princess we love MUTS at night. On Celebrity (Equinox) we like the cabin a little better. Overall, very comparable expectations and pricing. Cuizer2 Posted December 19, 2013 #25 Share Posted December 19, 2013 will be taking a cruise this year once i decide when and where. just wondering what your fav cruise line is and what about that one do you like the most My first cruise was on a cruise line that I don't believe exists any more. My second and third cruises were on Carnival. It was my third cruise that got me hooked. My fourth cruise was on Royal Caribbean (I'll be on my tenth Royal Caribbean cruise early next year). I've cruised on Carnival ten times. However, Carnival has very few cruises that exceed eight nights. I like longer cruises (ten to fourteen nights). I have three cruises booked on Royal Caribbean (ten nights in length, fourteen nights in length and seven nights in length). My last three cruises on Carnival were five nights (it should have been six nights, but the ship was a day late getting back to its home port) and three nights. I've also cruised on Princess twice and NCL twice. I may try a few more Princess cruises as Princess also offers longer cruises. NCL is okay, except I am not a fan of Freestyle dining.
