No time for CC whilst the Ashes are on!

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'll be absent from these boards for most of the summer whilst the Ashes Series is on!

We're doing well aren't we - all you cricket tragics will know what I mean.

Back again after we "flog the Poms!" :D

Yes, likewise, it has been interesting play so far, hopefully 2 nil by lunch tomorrow.:D

Never, Apart from the second test in the last series (when the English demolished us), the Aussies out batted and bowled the English and still lost two very narrowly and drew two (largely due to the weather) of the remaining 4 tests to go down 3 nil. Now the Aussies can show how they can really play when they do so as a team with confidence.:D

They will feel the heat no matter what the temperature is.

Talking about being high 30 s now and having play suspended for a 2 hour break in the middle. They would start at 9.30 am, go til 1.30 pm til and resume play at 3.30 pm and then go through til 7 pm. Madness, they should just have extra drink breaks.:D

Nowadays our hottest part of the day seems to be between 3 to 5pm. If they did play until 7pm and we were lucky enough to get it televised locally at least DH would get a chance to watch some of it after work.

We were in the UK during the English tests. We got a right ribbing from our relatives. I surely hope we can repay the ribbing.

Yes, I am sure you will get the chance. BTW, the reason play would resume at 3.30 pm is that the 'Dr' comes in then.:D

My teen son is going to be very frustrated that he won't be able to watch the Boxing Day test aboard the Rhapsody. Shame they don't show the cricket on board.

They would show the Super Bowl if it was cruising from the USA, otherwise the Americans would revolt.

But then who watches TV on a cruise ship, I don't.

The 'Dr' hasn't helped today. I hope they get the job done quickly as we are expecting 38, 38, 38, 39 then 30.

Summer has hit us at last. Being from Canberra you must also be use to extremes in temps. As you know we are lucky enough to have the 'Dr'.

Cruise is departing Sydney for Sth Pacific. We are at sea Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 27th. Don;t mind him watching a bit of cricket on tv during this time.

Previously been told on CC that RCCL don;t show the cricket even when in Australia/South Pacific.

It depends on the event. When the World Cup was on in 2010, I watched most games in the bar on the big screen, it was great:D (except that Holland lost:().

I also like to watch the occasional movie in the cabin if having a lazy day at sea.:D

Yes, the extremes sometimes come very close together as well. Last week on Wednesday it was 32 and then 16 on Thursday.

I think it will be very hot and dry this summer.

It depends on their satellite, it may not help your son but they often have several sports/games going on in the Casino. Perhaps you could ask the manager / barstaff to check if one TV could be changed to the cricket (if at all possible). At least you may get some scores.:D

It also depends on the broadcast license they want to purchase. We missed out on seeing the Olympic Games as RCL didn't want to spend the money.

My sister cruises on Princess lines and she said that during her 10-week Pacific Rim cruise last year they missed all the Olympics!

I love sports but Olympic coverage is so dodgy anyway. They only show the popular sports (swimming) that Aussies are likely to do well in and then cover stories of the other sports where we may have got gold.:D
