Not that you need more ammo, but they have sold 10 million albums and 12.5 million digital single sales. Not to shabby for a b level group.;)

The casino will open in Nassau, but not Cozumel. As the ship does not sail until 1 am, revenue loss for the casino and CCL that evening. Doubt CCL will make that much off the concerts, as expenses will take a lot of the ticket revenues.

While I restate, DW and I are not interested in the concert, I applaud CCL for even trying something different. At least it is not a ship charter, where everything is priced way more than normal.

I agree its way better than a charter. I think they will make out just fine with the lost revenue from the casino being closed. They do have the ticket sales and the VIP as well. My guess is that they have a couple of extra items up their sleeves.

Of that list I would pay for Roger Waters. I didn't get to see him the 2 times I saw Pink Floyd

Maybe Carnival can get TSO for Xmas cruises

That list is for 2012

My question would be appearance fees.

I don't know what any of these acts charge but do know

Eddie Money is $50,000

Also how many seats do the fantasy class theaters hold?

Yeah...

Billboard Magazine would scoff at the idea Lady A is a "B List"...

Artist Guarantees vary depending on venue, market, time of year and whether they are the headliner or support act and are not a static figure. Eddie Money's booking agency may quote $50,000 but I know they would be more than happy to get $25K on most dates.

In 2012 Lady Antebellum's guarantee for summer festivals and amphitheaters was around $650,000, but that was for venues of 12,000 to 20,000. Naturally, they don't get that much for a small theater.

I would not have any idea (either how many seats the main show rooms hold or what the fee is). Saw Eddie Money on a recent commercial. He looked terrible, hard miles on that chassis. If I had to guess on the seating, I would guess around 900.

I agree. Lady A isn't a B list, nor is Trace Adkins. They both put on great concerts!

I voted that it depended upon the acts and dates. We cruise based on dates, then go for itinerary--everything else goes from there.

Therein lies Carnival's biggest problem they are most likely unaware of and what I was referencing earlier about screwing this up.

I don't think even Carnival knows how many people their theaters really seat. Both the Universe Lounge on the Fantasy and the Palace Main Lounge on the Fascination are listed at 1,300, but as we all know the main floor consists of "benches" and not actual individual seats. So...How wide is the average cruiser's butt and how tightly can you pack them in?

But wait...It's not just butt width, you need enough room for shoulder to shoulder width unless you expect every one to sit sideways packed in like sardines.

What happens if Carnival oversells the first few shows? People will be pi$$ed to the max if they took the cruise just to see the artist and then can't get in the theater even with a paid ticket. Security might need some electric cattle prods to cram people in the rows.

Not a perfect scenario, but it certainly is manageable.

I have no problem with the price. I'd rather pay for a professional concert any day than a meal at the steak house or unlimited drinks.

BUT: The seats would have to be reserved. I'm really fussy about seating. This "first come" would meaning lining up well in advance, and then running for a spot. Not for me..........

That's the problem with management, you rely on what you've learned from past experiences. And Carnival has no past experience in concert promotion.

Jan. 21, 1978 Kansas played the 17000 seat Mcnichols arena in Denver. I bet there were more than 7000 fans at that concert.

I didn't say they were "b" list. I said that might be why vacruiser thinks there a "b" list act. They wouldn't be on any list for me. Not my type of music.

McNichols Arena capacity as a basketball arena was listed at 16,600 from 1975-1986 and 15,900 for hockey before being slightly expanded in '86. A traditional "end stage" concert set-up would be around 2/3s of those figures, although in 1976 Elvis sold 19,000 tickets in a concert that was configured "in the round" with the stage in the center and chairs on the floor.

Saw Kansas and REO in the 80's along with a couple other bands at the Oakland coliseum

seating capacity of 50,000 besides GA

It looked sold out

You can't compare stadium and festival shows with multiple headliners to indoor shows with one lone headliner. That would be like saying Arlo Guthrie drew 500,000 people to Max Yasgur's farm on August 15, 1969.

.....with the right artists and right price....BUT may I add also on the RIGHT ships with a semi decent itinerary around it too.....IMHO, the concert is only on 1 nite....the rest of the cruise must appeal too (itin, ship and length). Looks like they are trying to fill up their older and smaller ships which we don't go on.

It would stil be around 13000 seats after you add in the floor seats. Which is still more than 7000. I used to work turn around at the 17000 seat Spectrum in Philadelphia and it held 14400 for end stage concerts.

Your original claim was they were selling out 15,000 - 20,000 seat arenas and now you're backpedaling.

Kind of feel bad for anyone seeing Chicago on the ships. They are on the Grammy's right now and not too hot. For a band known for their horn section, they are terribly out of tune. Kind of sad, actually. They were one of the ones I might have gone to see.

LOL! Not in January they didn't.

Mcnichols arena is only one place that they played. I only mentioned it because it was a place that they played in January. You know the month that Lady A only sold 7000 tickets. Kansas may not have sold 15000-20000 tickets but they sold out what is considered a 15000-20000 seat arena. Either way Kansas sold more tickets than Lady A for a concert in January.

Let's let this go. It isn't on topic anymore.

It was funny to see Metallica play the song that Jethro tull beat them out for a Hard Rock Grammy .

I saw them open for Rolling Stones, now that was a different mixture of fans:eek:

Look, I'm a retired (sort of) concert promoter. I know the real overall numbers from all these past acts as well as the acts of the day. It is without question Lady A is currently an A+ act in all genres of music. They are one of the top grossing acts in concerts as well as sales of albums and downloads. To get them to do a concert on a ship is a big deal, but mostly because the agents at Creative Artists Agency bent over backwards to work with Carnival even though this whole thing is a logistical nightmare for the artists.
