Is it two "free" bottles or one bottle per person over 21?

It's two bottle per stateroom, whether solo, 4 people in stateroom, etc. (and if I'm incorrect, please let me know but my experience has been 2 per stateroom and that's how I read the Princess info).

I think if water and coffee were not included then I wouldnt get it. But we have a couple of bottles of water each per day plus sparkling water with dinner. Then the two coffees a day. Plus any alcohol.

I'm sure this has been covered, how many bottles of wine can I bring onboard initially? Can I bring more on at ports of call?

Is there a corkage fee at the MDR?

Thanks and will see you onboard.

You many bring as many bottles of wine as you wish.....HOWEVER, there is a $15 corkage fee for each bottle of wine OVER the one bottle per adult; i.e., you and your significant other may bring one bottle of wine each on embarkation without any fees attached. Should you wish more than one bottle each, there is a $15 corkage fee per bottle.

Bringing more wine aboard in each port is a flip the coin issue. Sometimes, especially when there are wine tours available in a port, you may again bring on bottles of wine. If they do not let you bring them aboard, they will hold them and deliver the wine at the end of the cruise. How many bottles is again a toss of a coin. One time when on the big island of Hawaii, a friend brought back a case of wine, and was allowed to take it to her cabin without issue. Another time and another ship, they took my one bottle of wine, and delivered it at the end of the cruise.

The actual wording in the Passage Contract is "...one bottle of wine or champagne per person of drinking age (no larger than 750 ml) per voyage..."

I would be very interested to see a poll of people who would actually benefit from the package opposed to people who are drinking under the budget.

And for my opinion I can't see how someone wouldn't benefit from using the AIBP. My wife and I drink almost drink for drink so we always book under the Sip & Sail unless a better promotion comes up then we pay for the package. For example (one of us each day will consume the following): Remember, we are on vacation!! 😜

2 Specialty Coffee's per 24hrs

2 Large Bottled Waters, sometimes 3 or 4 if it's a port day

2 Morning Cocktails (Bloody Mary's or Mimosas)

3 afternoon Drinks (Beers by the pool)

3 Evening Coctails (Wine with Dinner, after dinner Drinks)

2 Soft Drinks (at least during a 24hr period)

That's about 12 to 15 drinks per 24 hour period. So we obviously always come out ahead with the package.

Thank you for your breakdown of drinks, this was just the kind of thing I was looking for. I punched your numbers into the calculator (on sea days only for a 15 day Hawaiian cruise with 4 port days) and it is a considerable savings. More if I have a drink on port days.

As I am getting ready for my first cruise, I'm trying to figure out if the AIBP would work out for me. I really want it to but it's hard for Home Me to plan ahead for Vacation Me. Do I think Vacation Me could drink that in a day? Hells yeah! Every day? I don't know. Either way, it gives me something more tangible to consider.

It doesn't have to be "every day". It just needs to come out ahead of the cost of the package over the entire course of tour sailing. Some days you'll drink more and some days less - assuming it averages out to more or similar to the cost of the package, then the package makes sense for you...

We get it every sailing. No doubt about it for us.

Upon wake up, it's usually a soda at lunch, couple drinks by pool or around whatever activity we do in the afternoon, pre-dinner martini, glass of wine at dinner, drink at show, two or so at casino, and at least 4 bottles of water a day - it's a no brainer... Some days may be more and some days less, but over the course of a cruise, it averages our to more than the package if we pay as we go. So we get the package. Added conceive of knowing beverage budget is covered and it adds value...

Only you know whether it's worth it for you. As its your first cruise - I'd likely say you shouldn't buy it, unless you know for sure you'll drink enough of included beverages (coffees, teas, soda, non-alcoholic, alcoholic beverages, wine, shots, etc )

You may want to not buy it for your first cruse as you'll likely be busy around the ship, you know you don't drink that much on orher vacations, etc. Worth 9 sea days on a Hawaiian cruise, it more than males sense for us! Lol.

You could always gift yourself OBC in the amount of the package then drink against that - works out the same, but if you don't drink as much as the package coats, you get a refund! Bonus!

That's what I was planning on doing initially, and the more I think about it, that's what I'll end up doing. I'm still kind of on the fence about it especially when I re-ran the numbers in the calculator. My wife doesn't drink much which limits how much I drink (it's less fun to drink alone). At least if I gift myself the OBC, it costs the same and I'll have a better idea for my next cruise.

I was kind of hoping that that it would be a no-brainer for me because the thought of the freedom of ordering drinks without worrying about the cost at the end is enticing. :)

If getting the AIB package does it really make sense to carry multiple bottles of wine onboard? Seems like the section of wines by the glass is pretty good from what I read.

We like reasonable wines and were always quite happy with the wines by the glass in the MDR. Add on a cognac/scotch (or two;)) after dinner and a couple of pre-prandials and the AIBP is a no-brainer for us. No need to carry on wine IMHO.

Doesn't make any sense to us, nor does it make sense to us to lug aboard bottled water or soda....so we don't do it. We've found the wine selection perfect try reasonable, water is free (or with package you can get all the bottles you want), and we're perfect try fine with Coke products, as we maybe drink one soda a day if that...

So, nope - not to us.

But - others are particular about their wine, and/or want to have it in their cabin etc. So for them - it makes sense..

Same here, package is definitely a no-brainer and why load yourself down with bottles of wine. My wife likes wine at dinner and has always found the package wine by the glass quite acceptable. Couple all this with the amount of drinks we have over a full day having the package is among the best things we do. :)

Two years ago, on our Alaskan cruise, we bought wine in Vancouver to carry on. Didn't drink it onboard and ended up lugging it around Alaska on the land portion. Never drank it and ended up giving it away to hotel staff, as we weren't lugging it back to the UK. [emoji16] Never again!

Also, don't forget if you buy AIBP you get a discount off the higher priced bottles. Although we find the 'by the glass' wines perfectly fine, we may occasionally buy a discounted bottle or two, if we fancy it.

Hi - Great job with the spread sheet. Just a comment. If you are a beer drinker they have buckets of beer, 5 for 4, at all times. Usually at the pool bar but available at most bars. Also they have two 1 hour happy hours, one in the late PM and another late night where all drinks are buy one and get the 2nd for $1. No limit. I buy my beer and put it in the room fridge. As others have said thank you for taking the time to do the spread sheet.

Here is my initial rev of a beverage package evaluator - if you see items that are incorrect/missing, please let me know so I can improve this spreadsheet. All of the soda/water/juice prices are estimates for now, I can't seem to find current actual prices. Hope this is useful!

Hello, I'm going on the Caribbean Princess in November, are these prices still

the same??? Thank You..

Okay... I know I'm late in responding but... I'm impressed with this spreadsheet/calculator!

Thank you so much for this! I am trying to decide if it is worth getting. My husband, yes. For sure. But me? I drink mainly just during dinner in which he can use his sticker for the 40% wine bottle included in the package.

It is work, however, getting our daughter the non-alcoholic beverage package. Not a lot of money per day - she will be sure to get her money's worth. :)

Holy cow! Nobody knows how long I've been searching for drink selections and prices to determine if it's "for me". Thanks sooo much! Princess couldn't even help me! Appreciate it - and, yes, it IS for me! LOL!

Welcome to CC! I'm a little jealous, I wish the AIBP was for me. hahaha
