visible tattoos

I'm curious about tattoos in Celebrity's dress code.

I would be surprised if there were a no tattoo policy in 2014. There is a pool area/sun bathing area. But what about restaurants or bars or the casino? What if I'm wearing a pair of jeans and a short sleeve button down shirt and tattoos are still visible? What is Celebrity's view on that?

Not talking the main dining room or places that require a suit.....could I wear a pair of khaki shorts and a short sleeve shirt in the casino? If so, I would have 1 partial and 1 full tattoo showing....issues? Nothing obscene....muppets and music.

Just curious to what the rule...written or unwritten....is and what other cruisers might think.

I doubt there is any rule about passengers with tattoos. You see lots of them everywhere you go. We have sailed Princess and HAL and seen them on every cruise. I doubt Celebrity is any different.

Not trying to offer up more restrictions, but trying to follow rules and pack appropriately

From what I have read, Celebrity is a little dressier....it's not Carnival with swim suits and flip flops in every section of the ship.I have also read here about many things that seem to annoy/irritate or just generally make other uncomfortable. I know how much I paid for my cruise, so I can assume yours was comparable.

I love my ink and love to show it off...but I also have no issue wearing a pair of jeans if it helps the relaxation of a few. It's minor in the grand scheme of things.

LOL -- it's a cruise ship -- not the United States Navy! ;)

You and your body art will be fine. Go have a great cruise! :D

Why would you even care what others think whether it's tattoos or dress guidelines? No one will even notice and if someone did view you in a negative way...well just consider the source! Go and enjoy your Cruise.

Celebrity doesn't have any "Tatoo Rules". If they are visible? So what?

Most of the time, isn't that the point?

I don't have any and could care less if others do and even though

there are things the cruiseline could improve on, having a rule about

tatoos is not one of them.

It is disappointing to me that you would feel the need to ask this question. Cruise ships are there for people to have fun They are fun and that is why so many people sail on them.

I'm curious, what other public places have you been too where you are not allowed to have visible tattoos?

It's surprising to me that anyone would be disappointed it someone's desire to find an answer to a question.

My job is in a public place...I can't have visible tattoos....yes, I know it's a little different scenario

Maybe my question was worded poorly and should have been more directed around shorts in the casino and such. I have seen different answers and descriptions for dress code on the Celebrity line. I have seen pants(jeans/slacks/khakis) are required in the evening...and here I see cruise ships are here to have fun... have fun and be comfortable........I'm comfortable in shorts and chuck taylors and a Pink Floyd shirt, but that's not ok in the main dining room.

I personally don't care what others think of my ink. I didn't get it for them. I asked to make sure I can go with what I signed up for and at the same time not cause any unwarranted stress for other passengers, not so up with the times of body art.

Nice of you to consider the "Old Biddy Committee" who post a lot on the CC boards.

However, in spite of how it may appear, Cruise Critic posters are a very small percentage of people actually on board the ship.

You'll see lots of ink on other pax, including me, if we are on the same ship.

Have a great cruise.

Hi:)...I look at it this way...if someone else is stressing over your

ink? It is definitely their problem, not yours. I think no matter what

line you cruise on~ There are going to be folks that are "not up with

the times"......

And as for the shorts in the casino? Definitely allowed;) been allowed

for years and years......

It's funny because we just got off a 28 day cruise from Sydney to Vancouver with a stop in Honolulu with a change of passengers. On the Sydney to Honolulu portion 2/3 of the passengers were from Australia and we also spent four days in Sydney and saw very few tattoos on the Aussies. Not until we got to Honolulu and most of the Aussies left and the majority of the passengers were now Americans did we see lots of tattoos. Tattoos don't bother me, I could care less. I will say I did not see one visible tattoo on the cruise lines employees so it matters to them that visible tattoos are not shown. No entertainment dancers or singers had visible tattoos either.

"The Old Biddy Committe"?:eek::confused::rolleyes::(........

I think most of us were trying to help.......

LOL, I refer to the CC boards in general, not this particular thread, or Celebrity.

C'mom now, if you read enough, and you clearly do with all those posts, you have to admit that the OBC does exist. Seems every line has a few.

Some posts, you can almost see the poster pursing their lips like an annoyed school librarian.

OP referred to reading that others' appearance concern some. S/he must have seen comments from and Old Biddy

Don't worry, if you are concerned that you belong to the Old Biddy Committee, you probably don't :)

My guess is that you have not cruised with most of the people who frequently post here -- so, you really know nothing about us.

Ouch, sorry I tried to inject a bit of humor, did not mean to crash your clique, or hit close to home.

It won't happen again.

Celebrity does, however, have a policy on their staff having tatoos. We had a wonderful bartender that wore a wrist protector. Chatting, we asked if she had hurt her wrist. She said that she wore it because she had a tattoo and that wasn't permitted by Celebrity.

As far as those of you with "ink", if you've got it, flaunt it now because I hope you've considered your look when you get to the "old biddie" stage.
