BGCruiser85 Posted May 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Currently on the Oasis. We always play a few of the bingo games during the week. Glad we did for the one on Sunday. We ended up winning the final game and walked away with a room upgrade for the rest of the week. We were in an ocean view balcony on deck 12. Now sitting in 1702 crown loft suite!! Very much enjoying the suite life and all the benefits it offers. Getting ready to head down to the concierge lounge before our night at Chops. My wife has been making all kinds of pics so I'll try to post some in the near future. Sent from my iPad using Forums

sellwingri Posted May 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2014 I was always an avid bingo player and rarely missed a session until RCI started with the "machine" that plays your cards for you. Now it took the fun away. RCI lost my $200 plus on ever cruise. That being said, congrats on your big win! Ive never won anything big.
chellecruise12 Posted May 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Yes, just curious..Did you win using the "machine"? We are just off Vision & a friend that played said all the people winning happened to be using them..
Ashland Posted May 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Congrats - I won a 5 night cruise the last time I played Bingo. I decided after that to not push my luck and have not played since. :D Nice....but for RCI they haven't given away cruises during Bingo in a long time or at least the ones we've been on..now it seems just a catagory upgrade and occasionally I'm already in a higher catagory...so no thanks to a downgrade :D:D

We were on the Oasis last week and they gave away a Crown Loft Suite upgrade the first bingo session and a 7 day cruise the last bingo session. Funny story, per the bingo master the winner of the Crown Loft Suite the week prior was already in a Crown Loft Suite.

BGCruiser85 Posted May 22, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I did win using the machine. I agree that it takes away some of the fun and I don't really care for them but if you want to have a chance to compete that's what you have to do. They make the pricing just different enough that it makes it hard not to do one. Sent from my iPad using Forums
BGCruiser85 Posted May 22, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted May 22, 2014 Also they are still doing win a cruise bingo every trip. It is on Friday I think. We'll probably give it a try. If we won both we'd certainly be the most hated people on board! Sent from my iPad using Forums
KCDan Posted May 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted May 22, 2014 What is a bingo machine and where do they have bingo at now? Thanks!
robin13 Posted May 22, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I am glad that someone brought up the Bingo thing. I was on the IOS two weeks ago and decided to play Bingo with a friend. The last time I played Bingo was on Carnival (about 1 1/2 years ago) and of course I didn't win anything. Let me take that back; they gave me a scratch off card and I did win $15 which is what I paid for the cards so I ended up even. So I thought why not give this a try? First off they have what is called old school and new school Bingo. Had no idea what new school Bingo is but they explained about the "machine" that does everything for you. Well the price was $55 while the old school was $32. Didn't want to spend an arm and leg for Bingo so I chose the old school. Big mistake! There were maybe 50 people playing Bingo so I thought my odds were pretty good. Well it turns out that the machine has about 24 cards while mine only had 6. Started out playing and sure enough you hear the beep going off on different machines which means that they are one number away from winning. Then you hear Bingo and guess who is winning? Of course it is the people with the machine. There was one guy that bought 3 machines and he won back to back Bingo's. Each pot was $190 so he made out like a bandit. After all was said and done 90% of the people that won had the machine. Lesson learned; go new school when playing Bingo.
IWORK2CRUISE Posted May 22, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 22, 2014 When it was all paper (and less expensive and more entertaining!) I played multiple times per cruise. The introduction of the machines has taken way the "fun factor" as far as I am concerned. I will still play occasionally on paper cards and in 2011 I did win a 7 day cruise while on Rhapsody of the Seas. Thank you, Bingo as we got to go on Oasis! We sail on Rhapsody again in September and I will look for those paper cards again. :)

The only bandit in this picture is the cruiseline. ... Let's see 50 x $55 ...

Bingo generates huge profits. It is easy to understand why they hype the bingo games all the time on the ship. I would bet the bingo profits per person playing is even larger than the casino. davy jones Posted May 22, 2014 #22 Share Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Yep.... Bingo generates huge profits. It is easy to understand why they hype the bingo games all the time on the ship. I would bet the bingo profits per person playing is even larger than the casino. Absolutely! If 100 people play at $50 a head, that is $5K in revenue. Free cruise Bingo is usually for an OV for 2 on a 7 night cruise. That is worth about $2K (or less). If the other games pay out a total of $1K, that leaves $2K in profit. That calculates to a 60% payout, which is far less than even the tightest slot machine, or any table game odds. Upgrade bingo costs the cruiseline almost nothing. They are moving you to an unsold cabin. Their only cost isn't much more than a few drinks in the lounge. I also agree that the electronic bingo greatly reduces the fun. I also feel the same way about electronic slots. Congrats to the winner. Edited May 22, 2014 by davy jones
Rare Lionesss Posted May 22, 2014 #23 Share Posted May 22, 2014 Congrats!! It is so nice to hear when something good happens to someone on a cruise. I bet you loved your suite! I just wonder we were in a CL suite and if we won at bingo, what prize would we get??? Was there another prize in that situation. Thanks Sea Ya
redwings1958 Posted May 22, 2014 #24 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I always play the last game of the cruise, where the snowball jackpot is sometimes over $10,000!. I won one coverall game during the week worth $550, so it paid for a lot of the expenses occurred during the week. Definitely worth a shot
BGCruiser85 Posted May 23, 2014 Author #25 Share Posted May 23, 2014 The bingo master mentioned that on a recent cruise someone in a crown loft suite ended up winning. That's what they got. There are no substitutions. The suite went unused I guess. Not sure why the woman was playing for that in the first place.
