NSWP Posted May 25, 2014 #26 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Don't know if it can be used as it was the name of a famous racing yacht, but I do like "Brindabella". It has a certain female tone, fitting in with ships being female. A downer is the meaning: "two kangaroo rats". As long as the ships don't end up broke and grounded like Brindabella Airlines.

Robert James Lee Hawke and John Winston Howard Even more of a laugh I would suggest that P & O return to their roots and use the names of their famous ships that were used on the Australian service , and dump the pacific prefix its more than tainted. Just my thoughts John Edited May 25, 2014 by VK3DQ

Rare MMDown Under Posted May 25, 2014 #36 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Perhaps Southern Cross,:) it was used by Shaw Savill Lines until 1971. That is a grand name, given the original Southern Cross's history, with meaning to both Aussies and Kiwis.

VK3DQ Posted May 27, 2014 #45 Share Posted May 27, 2014 Hi Folks If we think a little the HAL twins can transform in Australia to .. Pepsi and Coke and be repainted to suit. madelk Posted May 27, 2014 #48 Share Posted May 27, 2014 ...Maybe Bundi and coke? Nope, that won't do - wouldn't want to give the impression that Aussies drink alcohol on a cruise! Could use "Hoot" and "Holler" instead?! :D If the old batch ships had an atmosphere theme (Star, Sky, Sun, Dawn) and now they've moved on to a gemstone-ish theme (Jewel and Pearl), assuming they continue with that until there's 4 in that series, then I'd suggest Ruby and Sapphire. VK3DQ Posted May 27, 2014 #50 Share Posted May 27, 2014 Hi Folks Ok enough jest here is a sensible suggestion for names for these "New" ships Keeping in mind the I and others I am sure consider that the "Pacific" suffix is tainted and needs to be dropped. Also keeping in mind the nice names used by P&O for its UK based ships 1 Andromeda 2 Antares In Keeping with the tradition of Arcadia , Oriana and the suchlike A nice couplet for two ships which are sisters... Regards John PS I must confess that I dislike the "Branding" of ships names
