What would you change

I really enjoyed the food discussion we had recently. And I've got my list of foods to try ready for my next cruise.

So I thought this would be a fun discussion as well.

Celebrity is almost perfect but not quite. If you were the CEO, what would you change???

Here's my list to get us started.

The early seating in the MDR would be 5:00 and it would be less formal - maybe 1 formal night or none.

There would be frittatas available in the oceanview café under the sign that says frittatas.

I think a sports bar would be cool - like Hot Shots with multiple tvs with different sporting events on each tv.

I'd serve ordinary beer like Michelob or Bud Light - maybe even draft beer.

On future ships, I would consider getting rid of the pool and grass and have a garden or botanical deck instead. Hibiscus plants in containers would be really nice, or small palm trees. A koi pond?

Maybe a big screen in the garden area so we could watch movies in the garden a couple of nights. And live music in the garden as well for sail away and evenings.

I could live without the casino. But then maybe that's needed so others can subsidize the cost of my cruise. Ok, we'll keep it.

What about better programming on the stateroom tv?

Or on the ship channel, they could give us a complete video tour of the ship. I'd love to see how the crew live when they aren't pampering me. I know they work constantly, but I'd like to know they have some down time and enjoy the ship also.

I've only been on Celebrity, has anyone tried other lines? Are there some fun activities you would recommend for Celebrity?

And then there's my dream itineraries and embarkation ports.

Would love to have some influence over the Celebrity CEO :)

I would have more free, fun events during the day. The egg drop contest was fun, lots of other things you could do. If there had to be a charge for supplies, make it the actual cost of the goods, not hugely marked up.

I love Celebrity but they could do a better job of entertaining us, especially on TA's or ships with lots of sea days.

I'm all about losing the art auction.

And an unscheduled sea day when we weren't able to stop at Grand Cayman was a disappointment. Seems like they could have done better with the entertainment but not sure I could have come up with any better ideas.

No art auctions

Proper, useful Information about each port instead of just pushing ship tours and tourist shopping

Lower price for specialty restaurants

Lower limit tables in the casino would be great. But the big thing that was missing....garbage cans! Small thing to complain about but they really were missing. Maybe for some it would ruin the mood of the ship but we would've liked to be able to set a glass or plate down somewhere and not just leave it on a table and throw away our own trash. Self service ice too.

You should really try the other lines. Everything you are suggesting is already available on the other cruise lines that use those features to distinguish themselves from the rest. I see no need to turn Celebrity into RoyalCaribbeanPrincessCarnivalNCL Cruise Lines.

Let Celebrity be what it is. This is the reason many of us prefer it to the others.

Definitely think the art auctions are taking up an extraordinary amount of space. Do they produce enough revenue to Celebrity to justify that space?

No, no, no to movies on deck. Those who want that are free to sail Princess or Disney or whatever.

It would be nice to have actual port lectures which are about the history and culture of the port instead of shills for shopping at stores that give the cruiselines a kickback. But I'm not going to hold my breath. I do my own research.

Dinner at 5:00 p.m.? I seriously doubt that would be a popular alternative.

What I'd really like to see is an end to all these endless promotions. 123 Go, 456 Don't Go, whatever. It's enough to give one a headache.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my current Celebrity experience.

I would take away Park West Art auctions. Period. The end. Free up the space.

We know Park West pays to be on board. How much extra would you be willing to pay to help them walk the plank? ;)

I agree. It was a sad day when they came back on board taking up lounge space during the day. 2,000 to 3,000 passengers on board and how many attend?

We have to suggest an income alternative to X.

There are very few things I would like to see changed. I like X. If I wanted dumb pool games I would choose another cruise line. We really enjoy the laid back sophisticated atmosphere on X. Sea days are for relaxing. Maybe on a TA there should be more, but I haven't been on one so I can't comment. I would love to see a more restrictive smoking policy. The smoke drifts across in the pool area and most especially at the Sunset bar. We like the Sunset but have had to leave too many times because of the smokers. Any improvements should be in the area of food. X is known as the cruise for gourmands. It's our number one reason for choosing X,

I would like a free cruise for all the nice people and make the chair hoggers, line jumpers, noisy door slammers and the "comfort" animal people pay double:D:D.

Failing that, yes, I agree with heaving Park West.

A level between Elite Plus and Zenith would be nice.

Really I'm quite happy with the cruise line at the moment.:)

I SO agree with this! After 15 days on Silhouette, that was the only thing I could think of to complain about!

I would also love to see Park West disappear.

I would like a bit more space between lounge chairs on the pool deck.

I would like smoking eliminated completely.

I would like the dress to be smart casual all nights in all venues and it be enforced. I have cruised for many years, loved formal nights when the ambience onboard those nights was elegant and magical. There is such a hodgepodge of dress now that enforced smart casual in the evenings would be an improvement. On a cruise last year my husband and I were sitting at the Martini Bar on a formal night at about 7 PM having a pre-dinner drink dressed in tux and dressy dress, when two men sat down next to us wearing shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and baseball caps. It felt ridiculous!!!

Definitely lose the art auctions. DH is all about lower table limits in the casino. Sunset Bar should be nonsmoking, period.

Sorry, but what you describe is not what Celebrity is all about. Casual dress, sports bar, .You can get alot what you seem to prefer on many other lines...Try Oasis for the garden but, please keep the pool, formal nights and Modern Luxury. I think you might enjoy some other cruise lines that offer more of the experience you are looking for.

I think enough suggestions have been made as Celeb introduces the gastropub, changes at the spa, suite dining., adjustments to loud music.. For now we are willing to give the new CEO a chance to enhance Celebity's Modern Luxury experience.

As Cruisenut says, you have to replace the revenue that Park West provides to eliminate them. So, we would keep them as we know they keep the price of cruising down. (We don't go to the auctions. And let the buyer beware)

We would be interested in the no smoking policy, more use of the conference rooms (when available) for activities and speakers, and of course more cruises near the west coast.

Lets see....if I were CEO...

* fix the pizza...still not all that great. Carnival has great pizza...cooked to order specialty pizzas like BBQ chicken etc. they were fabulous in 2008...our only carnival cruise.

* More bar/drink servers in main dining room and in oceanview cafe- last few cruises we waited forever for our drinks.

* when cruising in a suite, more customized experience....for example, would like to be able to choose drinks (evian, perrier etc) prior to boarding and have them in the fridge upon arrival, would be nice to be able to select our afternoon canapes from a select menu (also prior to boarding)

* Have on entree each night in MDR that highlights local speciality....such as jerked chicken when leaving jamaica...something creative the night you leave a port. It could even be a dessert or appetizer.

* when getting a couples massage, I love the way they did it on jewel of the seas. While one person was gettign massage, the other laid in warm bed, relaxing...that was fabulous.

* If I added a TV outdoors it would only be for movies under the stars (like princess)...never on in the day.

* more live music...love the cheese/wine nights on the lawn with pillows, a throw etc.

* Dump art auction

I guess that is my issue with Celebrity. The Solstice class was targeting 40 something women. They even had 40 somethings gals involved in the design. I believe I heard that's' where the idea came from for the bar in the shower (for shaving legs). So now they have our attention and we love the decor and the cabins and most of the better quality cuisine. The house band was awesome on my last cruise. But then they lose us on activities and other entertainment. I wish they would decide on a demographic. I think the loud music is for me. I like it. I like to swim but no way those 2 pools can accomodate 3000 people. I'll take the ocean for swimming but I prefer everyone have access to all parts of the most popular deck. The pool and lawn just seem like a waste of prime real estate. Just my opinion though. We can all agree on the Art Auctions though, so they could start there anyway. I was on Disney and I loved it but the kids are grown. Celebrity seemed like the grown up Disney. Maybe I should go back to Disney for a few more years :)

Inform and train all the employees to be up to date on what the policies are and to let them enforce them.

Have all the employees aware of what is included in the different cabin categories, bev pack, and etc. Have consistency.

Give the passengers what they were promised without changing mid cruise such as the recent disaster with the bev packs.

Perhaps the next promo will be 789 choose another line......lol

Can't think of much I would change right now except the late dining time, 8.45 pm was too late for me and the early sitting was too early so I would offer freedom dining to anyone who wanted it, 8pm was just about right for me :)
