Rare ronrick1943 Posted July 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2014 Some people have but not me. I just go for the fun of it, and take the amount of money for entrainment. Then it doesn't matter if you loss, but if you win that's part of the fun. Rick
pacheco18 Posted July 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2014 The odds on a ship are about the worst you will find. Save your money.
Rare ORV Posted July 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2014 The casino on the Riviera when we were on it last fall was the most disappointing venue on the ship. State of the art slot machines, about 20 years ago. That is pretty unacceptable for a new ship. No tournaments, no free "learn to play" times, no visible casino manager, tables limits $10 or more although no one was playing. It was a ghost town most of the time. No luck on the slots either. That about sums it up. IMO they should take a lesson from some other lines and do away with it and use the space for something else. Sent from my XT1032 using Forums mobile app I'm thinking it will be unlikely that the Casino's will be closed, taking into consideration that China is on course to be the 2nd largest cruise market by 2017 after the States. I know on our recent cruise on Regatta the Asian passengers on board were avid attendees at the Casino.
hypercafe Posted July 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 1, 2014 Guess it depends where the ship is. On our last two trips on the Riviera in the Caribbean the place was empty. If lines want to due China they usually put a ship there all year set up for it. i Sent from my XT1032 using Forums mobile app
Rare LHT28 Posted July 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2014 Usually the casino is busy after dinner so I go & make my donation The machines were VERY tight on our January cruise A couple of yrs ago I did win $1200 on the Insignia & a couple of others won $5000 but I think that was it ..the 2nd leg of the cruise I could not win a dime so kept my money ;) Lyn

ChatKat in Ca. Posted July 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I was on the same cruise as Orv and it was a ghost town. I won a few dollars playing 1 on 1 with the dealer. I also sought out the Casino Manager asking about Blackjack Tournaments and he was telling me that every one likes poker tournaments but he offered none saying that he doubted anyone was interested. I would have bet there would have been a turn out for some kind of tournament on a sea day. No Slot or Blackjack or Poker.
pacheco18 Posted July 3, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I have never been on a O cruise with an active casino. Usually there are one or two sad people sitting at the slots. That's about it.

Rare LHT28 Posted July 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 4, 2014 One year we did a B2B 1st segment you could not find a machine anywhere 2nd segment it was empty It is like the deck chairs it all depends on the people on that specific cruise

Totally opposite experience on two Caribbean itineraries. Tables were full each evening and sea day BJ tournaments were nearly sold out events. Perhaps the itineraries are a factor with less action on European port intensive cruises, for example.

kiawahdon Posted July 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Casino was fairly active in South Pacific this past winter on Marina. Tough to get a seat at a table after dinner. Several BJ tournaments that had 30+ players on sea days.

Well the first half of the B2b that Kathy & I were on was fairly port intensive, the second part, not so much, it was a Transatlantic. I really expected the TA to be fairly active in the casino.
