This Thread Is To Be Used For All Discussions About HAL's On Board Smoking Policies

I totally agree with your intention to START A NEW THREAD for a NEW POLICY.

The thread you started should be reinstated for people to state their opinion of the NEW policy and maybe let this one about the OLD policy die off.

Having said that, I am quite anxious to see how many posters on this old thread who said they would no longer sail with HAL should they implement a no smoking policy on balconies will actually come back and tell us they are jumping ship. I can think of a few very vocal posters whose reaction to this announcement I would like to hear ;) ... or maybe not

Smoking policy is smoking policy, and as someone who has followed this thread since its inception, I don't see any particular benefit in starting a new thread. I'm all in favour of a thread, sticky or otherwise, announcing the change, but let's continue the debate on this thread. Not that I think that there will be much traffic after an initial flurry flowing from the change.

I think you guys are being spoofed.

The URL is not valid and the format/font is all over the place.

Someone's wishful thinking or is it 4/1/2017 already.

They also announced that you have won a free cruise and they only need your credit card number to process the taxes.

When I see it on http://www.hollandamerica.com (not http://www.f.e.hollandamerica.com) then I'll believe it.

the post was from LAFFNVEGAS, a legitimate TA of good repute. I can't see her posting something erroneous.

But, I didn't go to the URL. As she said, her announcement was from HAL

Well, that's not entirely accurate considering Noordam has one.

Celebrity is the most tough. According to these rules, Oosterdam and Eurodam will be even with Celebrity as the most restrictive on smoking. Curious though...why did they choose those 2 ships to not allow casino smoking?

Was on the Eurodam and the casino is nonsmoking after refurb. because it is now all one large space with billboard onboard, Lincoln stage, twin pianos and hallway going through the area to the elevator lobby.

Doesn't Seabourn allow smoking too? Or is it Silversea? Not 100% sure.

Seabourn got smart 10 months ago on their balcony smoking

Electronic cigarettes may be used in all suites.

Where You Can't: Smoking is prohibited in all passenger cabins and most public areas are smoke-free.

Cigar and Pipe Smoking: Passengers are prohibited from smoking pipes and cigars anywhere inside the ship, including in suites and on balconies. Cigar and pipe smoking is permitted only on the starboard side of the open terrace on Deck 7, aft of Seabourn Square.

Go to the URL and see for yourself. Make sure you have malware protection, just in case.

Maybe LAFFNVEGAS can scan what she got from HAL and post it here. Not a transcription, not a re-direct to a URL, not "It's posted everywhere". If it is true and valid then there should be no issue posting in this thread.

I know HAL's web site takes time to post these things.

Agreed----No sense in starting a new one and this one will die out in short order if the news release is legitimate. I would like to see C.C. look into this and make an announcement whether or not it is a hoax, though.

Maybe my luck is changing. Recently had a Celebrity cruise change to a charter and lost that reservation, but my reservation on the Koningsdam is for January 8th! This is the first day for the new smoking policy on the K-dam. My wife will be especially happy.

Exactly what I said on Lisa's thread that went poof. See you in January Bob! [emoji1]

The link works just fine form me CHOPPERTESTER and no warnings ;)

Why not trust those who know???

Sad the original thread was removed as a LOT of people (myself included) don't usually come here so unless they check HAL's rules faqs, they won't know.

I totally confess, I usually re-check before I book, after that, I'm not back. HAL is not known for big changes ;) :p

Do all you doubters want a personalized copy signed in blood and delivered to you in person by Orlando Ashford ?

Nope, but a scanned version would work.

"Lupy48 just reported that they spoke directly to HAL and it has been confirmed to be true. Your pdf is the real deal. "

You mean the real HAL like "What are you doing Dave?" LOL It must be true then.

Bring on the ban smoking in the Casino thread!

I posted earlier that the HAL rep said policy did not change, however I called again and they did say an announcement will be on the website shortly. I asked what changed and they said it will be posted. Typical of HAL reps ! I still hope they figure out something for smokers during bad weather and yes I'm a non- smoker

We are fortunate that we are able to take 20-30 day cruises a few times each year. We have noticed when the weather is bad (cold/rainy) etc. that smokers still smoke! I would prefer they have an area where it is less likely they get sick and spread it. Also feel that it should not be that big of a deal for a cruise line to make an area for smokers. Sure it will cost some $$ but so is acquiring/maintaining a customer base.

Okay now I know your thinking. I don't mind a spot for them to smoke just as long as it.does not impose on my enjoyment inside or outside.
