gsrunyan Posted August 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2014 I printed the luggage tags and when I went to fold them, step 1 is " fold on the dotted line." There is no dotted line!!?? What do you use to fold these things? Glenn:confused:
sppunk Posted August 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Solution: never print them out and have the porters tag your bags. :)
ellieanne Posted August 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Solution: never print them out and have the porters tag your bags. :) This is what we do. It also means I never have to worry about keeping up with the folded tags or having a stapler/some other way to attach them to our bags.
iancal Posted August 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Same here. No printing. No DIY project at home. Arrive at the port, fill out the tag if you are checking bags, give it/them to the porter..... and 30 seconds later you are on your way!
Rare kazu Posted August 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Awwww, I enjoy the craft project. no folded line? just fold until the two parts meet (top and bottom) and line up with the middle.
Disneynerd Posted August 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2014 We tackled it as an origami challenge. And we figured it out. We had to borrow a stapler at the hotel but we high fiving each other with our accomplishment! Doesn't take much to make us happy.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Use a Stevedore at your port of departure. They carry loads of 'em; it's the hot tip ;)
jtl513 Posted August 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) I printed the luggage tags and when I went to fold them, step 1 is " fold on the dotted line." There is no dotted line!!?? What do you use to fold these things? Glenn:confused: You must be joking. Look at the diagram: fold in thirds length-wise with the good info on the outside, then fold in half.. PathfinderEss Posted August 25, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2014 We don't have the problem of no lines but for the last four or five years now when we print out our luggage tags we have different number on both ends. Sometimes one is our actual cabin number sometimes not.

It would have been in a large hallway.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 25, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2014 So far all the luggage tags that I have printed out have had the dotted line on them. Then I just slip them into the plastic sleeves that I made years ago. Punch holes in them. When we are ready to leave the hotel -- just attach them with cable ties. Quick and easy. (Ex: the elevator closest to your cabin might be 7F for 7th deck, forward elevator - 7A for 7th deck, aft elevator, etc.)
sapper1 Posted August 25, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2014 I just reinforce them with clear packing tape, punch a hole and attach them using heavy string which I double. I put two tags on each bag in case one is torn off.
hawkeye3d Posted August 25, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 25, 2014 IF you print your own tags, look them over. As others have reported sometimes the cabin numbers are wrong. I thought it was a bug in my PC as the first tag would be ok but subsequent tags would have non existant cabin numbers. Now I print them one at a time and no problems I don't go thru the folding process, just grab a pair of scissors and chop um to size and slip into plastic holders which we bought from HAL Bob
navybankerteacher Posted August 25, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Either get clear plastic sleeves to put your printed tags in - they come with loops and are re-usable, or just put heavy duty clear plastic wrapping tape on each side, then punch a hole at one end for string or a rubber band to attach to your bags. DaveOKC Posted August 25, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 25, 2014 We bought several luggage tag holders from CC and they work great (and are reusable). Really helpful when we had two cruises one day in between. Just fold and slip into holder. DaveOKC
iflyrc5 Posted August 25, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 25, 2014 We put tape on them punch hole and use zip ties .. We do the exact same thing. Also use zip ties to keep the luggage closed - the locks only keep out the honest people

Djptcp Posted August 25, 2014 #20 Share Posted August 25, 2014 My problem has been only half of the tag shows up. I've tried several times and the same thing happens. Waiting until the pier sounds like that might be just the thing.
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted August 25, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 25, 2014 They don't tear. ??
dharmapath Posted August 25, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 25, 2014 I purchased a set of these Plastic Tags to hold the printouts. I think mine had the dotted line or something indicating where to fold. The plastic tags work out well and I don't have to worry about a stapler or finding tags at the pier. summersigh Posted August 25, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 25, 2014 I bought some plastic luggage tag sleeves from AAA while I was there one day. They work great (have lasted 3 cruises with no visible wear and tear :)) and have a plastic loop that attaches securely to your suitcase. Well worth the little bit I paid for them. 2ptu/000 Posted August 25, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 25, 2014 We use the plastic sleeves too. When we are flying to the port, we put the HAL luggage tag in the sleeve and then put the hotel information on top of it in the sleeve. We like to have the hotel information easily visible in case a piece of luggage gets lost. When we get to the hotel, we take that information out and our HAL luggage tag is visible. Cruise_More_Often Posted August 25, 2014 #25 Share Posted August 25, 2014 What a great idea. I just ordered the tags mentioned above and will do the hotel info thing as well.
