imae39 Posted January 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I've read that a New York Times Study Group will be on the March 8 sailing of the Ryndam. Has anyone knowledge of this group and how many passengers this could be?

imae39 Posted January 6, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Title of study is "Experience the World of the Maya". Several speakers and seminars each day.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I wouldn't worry -- those groups are usually small.
cb at sea Posted January 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Lol...too funny! Yeah, it sounds like a rowdy bunch! This "group" will not affect anyone in the least!
RoupMom Posted January 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Can we crash any of the talks/seminars? The role call on this cruise is very slow. I'm glad to see there are others aboard.
PathfinderEss Posted January 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I wouldn't worry -- those groups are usually small. I'm with KK, sounds like a small group to me, that will not cause any problems with your cruise.
catl331 Posted January 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2015 we had a knitting group on our Iceland cruise. They were interested in buying wool. Very quiet group!
sail7seas Posted January 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Lol...too funny! Yeah, it sounds like a rowdy bunch! This "group" will not affect anyone in the least! Without knowing the size of the group, you cannot know. It doesn't matter what the group is made up of as to whether their could be interruption to other guests' enjoyment. They could take over a lounge and no one admitted if not part of the group. They could take over a full Traditional Seating at dinner and if not part of the group, you don't get that dining time. They could take over the pool on a sea day for their own private party..... no one but them is welcome. In this case, all of that is highly unlikely but you cannot make such a blanket statement about groups when you know nothing about the size of the group. I would suggest this group on Ryndam will be little or no disturbance to anyone.
roobrie Posted January 8, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Hi - My wife and I have signed up for this cruise and have a preliminary list of about 75 folks. :)
KirkNC Posted January 9, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 9, 2015 We have seldom been disturbed by groups on board. The only ones that irritate us is when they close a lounge or bar to the "regular" passengers.
CI66774 Posted January 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 10, 2015 Any group with the name "study" in it sends shivers down my spine!! :D Seriously, I wouldn't give it a second thought. They probably will be studying and reading.
