Baby's First Birthday

Hello all, long time reader but don't believe I have ever posted.

We will be going on Royal 10-day southern in two weeks. This will actually be our little boy's 3rd cruise believe it or not, but this one is special as he will turn one!

I called both travel agent and princess and didn't get a great feel for what they could arrange beyond the basics that I see all the time (balloons, door decorations.)

Since this is a first birthday, I would like a personalized cake that he can mash in his face, photographer, any anything else that will make it special. I'm happy to pay for these but I can't figure out how. I suppose I could just talk w/ the concierge once on board, but just didn't want to take the chance of it being to late too arrange something.

Thanks!:D

Talk to the Maitre D' and probably the staff in the photography studio.

Go to his cruise personalizer, fill out the birthday celebration. Also speak with the head waiter once on board. You will get a small cake.

The room steward should have a happy birthday sign for the door.

The on board photographer will gladly take his photo and any family photos you ask for. There is a cost to purchase the photos, but not to take them (except the platinum studio sittings have a price).

You'd better be VERY persistant about the cake! I tried to arrange cakes for the birthdays of my young adult children (mostly to mortify them, but also because I heard the cakes were delish!) on our recent cruise. Despite calling Princess well in advance to include their birthdates/cake request in the Personalizer, the cake did not arrive on the birthday. (The door got decorated, but no cakes.) I then contacted Guest Relations to have a post-birthday cake delivered and that never materialized either. So, because my kids weren't going to cry about a missed cake, I just gave up.

However, for a 1st birthday, this is very important. Keep at them to make sure this happens!

If the OP has anytime - which wasn't specified - there should be a cake voucher delivered to the cabin that gets presented as the party is seated on birthday night. And AFAIK, the kitchen has a supply of those little celebration cakes at the ready. Just a word with the HW at the beginning of a meal should ensure one turns up.
