Thanks for the up date. We get on the Maasdam on 14 Jan the day after she gets out of dry dock. It'll be like we're on a new ship. Any idea what is been done to her?

I am surprised, no disappointed that HAL is still selling cabins on their site for the Eurodam cruises on Jan. 10 and Jan. 17, 2016.

Both of these cruises seem to be charters and yet they are still offered.

One couple we met on this last cruise booked the B2B, Jan. 3 and were very excited about it. Looks like at some point they might be told that they will have to rebook. I reallly don't think this is a good way to do business.

HAL did exactly the same thing for cruises this year. They took reservations for months after full charters had been announced by the groups chartering the ship.

That cruise is listed in the Groups section of the list, not the Charters section. So the effect on you will depend on how big the group is and how many activities it organises on board. Some groups are small and insignificant, but others may account for half or more of the passengers on a ship and take over many of the public spaces for their activities.

 

If the event had been a charter, your booking would in due course have been cancelled if/when the charter became firm and HAL took the cruise off sale.

With her last drydock in the fall of 2013, another drydock now would seem a bit early (18 months).

 

It would be nice, for we are sailing end of May so a bit of refurb a month before we sail is never a bad thing. :)

We were just on the Nieuw Amsterdam Feb 1 cruise -- on the list above, you listed a dressage group on that cruise -- we never saw or heard anything related to that group, and we never noticed that they "took over" any venue....but I don't know how large that group was.

Anyone know if OOSTERDAM is going into dry dock before it goes to the Caribbean. It has had a long run in the Pacific and then is going to Alaska before it comes to Florida for runs in the Caribbean.
