Stock Benefit Exceptions

What type of promotions, etc. from Princess would prevent them from allowing the OBC to be given if we hold the 100 or more shares of Carnival stock?

Booking promotions go on almost endlessly, and it is hard to tell what the TA gives, compared to the cruise line, and what would prevent a rejection of an OBC request. I hate when people say; to just try it and hope they accept it. Why can't the cruise line just state that a certain promotion will not entitle you to the stock benefit?

I am planning to buy some shares,as we are going on a Princess cruise and maybe a Carnival one also this year. and will sell them if rejected on my first attempt I guess.

Has anyone got rejected when sending in the request?

Thanks

As far as I know, the stockholder benefit is combinable with every Princess promo. I've never heard of an exception...

We have been on 20 or so cruises since we bought the stock and have never had a problem.

I think it is only if you are traveling as a TA or if you are a guest lecturer, etc. that it is not allowed.

There are no current exceptions.

The benefit is annually renewable by the parent company, Carnival. It has been renewed every year to date and applies cross the full spectrum of Carnival Cruise Lines.

Ding!

The casino promotions, friends and family rate (not referral, but being related to a Princess employee) and certain industry discounts (like suppliers) don't stack.

I have been able to stack this with the usual suspects, including when my fare has been reduced to zero or near zero by redeeming referral rewards.

As you can see, unless you are an employee, a travel agent sailing on agency rates, friends and family or casino fares, you don't qualify to be rejected.

Promo fares, sale fares, last minute, pack n go, are all retail fares and qualify for the Shareholder Benefit.

You have to submit request 2 weeks before cruise, so if you take a last minute one they could reject it, but it's never happened to me when I've booked a week before sailing (at least on Carnival)

No, you may submit up to 90 days prior to your sailing date.

Actually I booked the Emerald in March on Friday afternoon for that Sunday sailing. I faxed in my statement and had the obc on my account within 1 hour.

No onboard restrictions on use.

No matter what, even if you receive confirmation that the OBC has been applied, bring a copy of all of the documents you faxed in. I've had several experiences when after boarding, the OBC wasn't applied and the ship had no record. I had to produce everything in order to get the OBC. A hassle but it's ways easier to fix onboard than after the fact.

I did see some travel sites specifically state that shareholder benefit may not apply.....which was the first time I ever saw that caveat

...but I booked (between 80 and 90 days out, paid in full...I applied for my shareholder credit, but no e-mail confirmation was received...

it was applied..

.BUT on my credits on my Princess Personalizer showed the shareholder credit same day I faxed it....

I've been on 27 Princess cruises and never had a problem. The stock has been doing very well of late . Besides all the OBC received, CCL pays a dividend.

I learned on a recent NCL cruise that another Princess perk is OBC can be used to pay gratuities. On Norwegian, no way. OBC can only be used for shipboard activities, specialty restaurants, alcohol, or shore excursions. If you don't take an NCL excursion or eat in their numerous ( and no better than the included main dining room food) , the OBC is useless. We had to spend our Breakaway OBC in the overpriced gift shop.

If only Princess had cruises out of NY year round, we would never have been on a Norwegian cruise.

With Princess the Shareholder OBC is granted:

If you get a discount from you TA on the cruise fare.

If you use FCC

If you get the Military OBC

If you get the Loyalty OBC

If you get OBC from the Princess credit card.

If your TA gives you OBC.

If someone else gives you OBC.

As mentioned above all these OBCs can pay for anything that you charge to your Onboard Account
