What is your favorite Carnival Cruise Food?

ROASTED PUMPKIN SOUP

From Michael Wisdom (Sous Chef-Carnival Cruise Lines)

2-1/2 Quarts Chicken Stock

1/2 Pound Onion, quarters

5-2/3 Ounces Leek, chunks

1-1/8 Ounces Garlic Clove

3-3/8 Tbsp Olive Oil

1-2/3 Cups Half and Half

1/4 Cup Heavy Cream

5/8 Ounce Chicken Base

1-1/4 Pounds Pumpkin Puree, roasted

Salt and Pepper to taste

Dash Nutmeg

 

Roast onions, leeks and garlic cloves in olive oil in a preheated oven at 300 degrees Farenheit for 30 to 45 minutes. Remove and puree in blender.

 

Bring stock, pumpkin puree, pureed vegetables and chicken base to boil. Simmer for 45 minutes.

 

Add Half & Half and simmer.

 

Season with salt & pepper.

 

Finish with heavy cream.

 

Top with nutmeg.

This recipe serves 15 people.

You guys are making me hungry, and anxious and I've still got over a year til I get to cruise for the first time. Can't wait to try the pumpkin soup, it sounds sooo good and of course all the other food too. CAN'T WAIT!!!

must orders for me:

 

Breakfast: Omelets

Lunch: burgers and fries or double steak sandwich from the grill

appetizers: Navy Bean Soup, grilled chicken of satay

main: prime rib, rack of lamb,

dessert: flourless chocolate cake, grand marnier souffle, White chocolate bread pudding

room service: cookies and brownies, ice cold tomato juice(yup I am weird)

I can't say it's the best thing on board because so much of it is soooo good but I love the bacon.

It is meaty and they don't usually cook it to death like so many places do. I'm not normally much of a breakfast eater but I really enjoy the breakfast buffet.

I love to take scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon and mix it up together. If they only had tortillas I'd be in breakfast taco heaven.

 

One of the things about taking cholesterol lowering drugs is that you can get away with a meal like that, every once in a while. :)

My DW probably would say the hockeypuck hashbrowns.

 

Me? I never have had a favorite food on or off the ship, but on the last cruise

I made some parents mad when their kids imitated my breakfast one morning.

 

"Rice Krispies and hot chocolate over vanilla frozen yogurt":D

Don't knock it till ya tried it. It is vactation.
