Just wanted to let everyone know what we are doing while during our stay in London. We are staying at the Hilton Doubletree Westminster. After we get over the jet lag, we plan to explorer the Westminster area. On September 3rd, we are taking a day trip to Paris that I booked on Viator. The night before we head to Southampton and the CB, I arranged a pre cruise Meet & Greet dinner for several roll call members at a Westminster restaurant called "The Loose Box Bar." I'm looking forward to having a blast while we are in London and during our day trip to Paris......:):):)

Bob, great idea on the "live from". We're having a exciting time with our 16 nights pre cruise based in Liverpool staying with friends. As we've been in Southampton before, we're arriving there the night before the cruise.

Wow, Bob! A day trip to Paris from London? Wow. I certainly can understand it. Paris is my favorite city in the world - I've been there at least a dozen times. I once spent all night on a train (one of the slow-moving ones) just to spend a day there when I was skiing in Chamonix. People thought I was crazy, but Paris is worth it! Have fun!

Bob - Look forward to meeting you and Holli on the ship. Paris in one day. No one can do Paris in one day. :D Maybe just a little lookie lookie and you can come back and do it again sometimes pre cruise stay or something. Paris is one of my favourite cities. Can't speak French to save myself, but I managed on the days I was there by myself. A lot of smiling, pointing, nodding and some half attempt so say something in French got me through. The train system is really easy to get around and the city is most walkable.

Hope you get better internet access than i did last couple of weeks! Got off Caribbean Princess yesterday the wifi hardly worked for the whole two weeks!. Only able to access the internet once successfully throughout the whole trip. Internet cafe very slow.

Lots of people were mentioning how poor the service was.

Tried the princess app for the on board account - worked intermittently for first two days then gave up completely.

Guess too many people were trying to access the service!

Several people also had trouble with not being able to log out when they thought they had and their minutes being used up, all were reinstated without hassle so guessing the ship knew they had a problem.

Good morning everyone. Well remember I said earlier I probably wouldn't get too much sleep, right now it's 0445pst which may not seem too bad except I really didn't doze off until around 0200. Several things on tap for today. Will be giving both the front and back yards their final pre-cruise mow. After that, I will be taking Misha to get his final pre-cruise grooming. Oh and I'm sure Holli will think of a few things for me to do. Limo will pick us up around 6:00pm tomorrow night for our ride to the airport. It really seems real now; more so that 535 days ago when I first booked the cruise.....:):):)

Hope all are well.

Hi Bob,

We cruised with you and Holli on the Royal Princess. Have a great cruise! We are doing a similar itinerary as this one next year, but on a different ship.

Look forward to reading about your adventures.

Sue (and Andrew), from Australia.

Hi Sue. Nice to hear from you again. I hope you and Andrew are both doing well. I will do my best to report on all my bservations.....:):):)

Hi Sarah. We did a two day pre-cruise stay in Paris before our 2009 T/A on the Ruby. We had dinner in The 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant, took an hour or so night time cruise in the Seine river and saw a Moulin Rouge show and that was all in one night. This time around, we will take the Eurostar to Paris, have a champagne lunch in the ET, a short cruise on the Seine, and an option to have an hour or so escorted tour of the Louvre. Not sure if we'll do the Louvre as it might be a little too much for Holli's back.

We'll be on the lookout for you Saturday onboard! Another poster mentioned difficulty with the internet on the CP. We had the same problem when we sailed her last January in the Caribbean. Thanks to a hint on CC, we discovered that cracking the door slightly helps significantly when logging in. Frustrated to hear this problem still exists; haven't experienced this with any other ship in the fleet. It will be a fabulous cruise, regardless! Safe travels to London (and Paris!).

We were in Southampton in 2004 on a drive around UK and also before a cruise 2 years ago. Last time we went to the Tourist Bureau, grabbed a map of a walk around the old town and then went to the new Titanic Museum - highly recommend both.

On our last cruise earlier this year on the sister ship, Ruby Princess everyone was complaning of the incrediably slow internet; although the problem could have been made worst by the fact that over half the pasengers were Platinum or Elite - 49 nights around South America!

Hope that you arranged for the Chunnel to take you to Paris like I did earlier this month. Long day but so interesting.

Sounds like you have some full days planned. Know it will all be enjoyable. You may want to go through Viator for a ride on the London Eye too. Be sure to get a Skip the Line pass. It worked out great for us. Also consider the one day Hop On, Hop Off bus. You can see everything in London. Very comprehensive tour and lots of history info.

Did you mean the Eurostar? It's really great... 3 to 4 hours from London to Paris. It's a wonderful way to see the countryside as well.

Thanks for the weather update Shogun. I'm glad we are staying in London for four nights which will hopefully give it a chance to get out of the area.....:):):)

28 hours till take off:). Limo picks us up around 5:00pm tomorrow. Probably won't get much sleep tonight. I wish I could as I have to be on the road at 0500 to take Misha to his vacation spot which is about 55 miles away from the house. If I leave any later, I'll be gone for hours as the freeways will be bumper to bumper.....
