Stateroom Amenities Survey

DH got an email from Princess today to take a survey. Being the Good Wife I am, I took the survey:D

Most interesting, were the questions about upgraded Suite Amenities they are considering adding - for a fee, of course!

Question:

How appealing is the following group of additional Full Suite Amenities:

Reserved Theater Seating

Reserved Seating for Movies Under the Stars

Daily Complimentarey Lunch in Specialty Restaurants

Dining in an Exclusive Area of the Mail Dining Rooms

In Suite Embarkation Day Lunch

Upgraded L'Occitane Bathroom Amenities

Daily Bottled Water

You have to rank appeal on 1-10 scale

Then, they ask at what price would you consider it too expensive, a good bargain, worth considering, or so low you would perceive it not valuable.

Then, finally, they asked what amenities would be appealing?

I listed these but am interested in your ideas!

Tender tickets for return to ship

Priority line to board ship on dock in port

Chilled, bottled water when returning to ship in port

Dedicated stewards with fewer cabins to service.

I have to say that most of their ideas would not sway me to spend more but that's just me!

Hi All

Interesting to see, however nothing Princess can offer will make me take a suite,

apart from a 75% price reduction,

yours Shogun

I agree. However somethings as a regular cruiser would tick me off. I don't like the reserved theater seats. What happened to the cruise that everyone was treated equally. So it;s back to whom ever has the most money can have what they want. If cruising changes that much then I will go back to land based vacations. The cruise will not be as good a value.

Got the same survey. And, I like the new proposed amenities. I'm not too keen on the L'Occitane and the bottled water, but the rest looked pretty good. I would be willing to pay more for those.

I suggested these additional amenities:

-Dedicated suites lounge and dining areas like Celebrity and RCI. Pointed out that RCI had converted Viking Crown Lounge to suites lounge and dining and suggested they consider doing the same with Sky Walkers. Complimentary drinks at select times in suites lounge.

-Butlers like Celebrity.

-Concierge escorted debarkation like RCI.

-Escorted access to suites on embarkation like NCL.

I also mentioned twice that they should preserve the suites breakfast perk.

I also mentioned that they screwed up with the miniscule suites penthouse suite balconies on Regal/Royal. Complimented them on the Owners suites on Regal/Royal and the aft suites on Grand Class ships.

Quite frankly, we had a great time on Regal but we were convinced by the enhanced amenities being offered on Celebrity and RCI to book our next three cruises with them. These enhancements could brink us back.

Thanks MustangGT, I too received the same survey but could hardly remember the offered amenities at the end when asked about what other benefits would be welcomed.

I wish I would have thought of "return to ship" priority tender tickets. Great idea. Instead I asked for cappuccino/espresso delivery; a la Celebrity.

More money will also get you more things on land vacations.

Fact of life: money talks, people listen.

We stay in suites only been on princess and carnival. Carnival perks are almost nil. But I don't get the butler thing that other cruise lines have. What does he do that I can't. I'm on vacation and have a of of free time to book a diner or unpack.

We only go on about one cruise per year (I know.. feel sorry for me now..right?) but when compared to some of my fellow peeps here on CC, sometimes that does seem like so very few.

Anyways, so when we do go, I like to book a suite because I do enjoy the perks the suite affords me. (chime in here that the use of the word "affords" may not have been a wise choice). And, quite honestly, if/when I make Elite with Princess, then I might be more inclined to book something other than a suite. Having said that.. I would enjoy the Butler Service I have read about on other cruise lines. I think that would make the trip and the room very special.

I don't like it. If a passenger wishes to pay for extras in their own stateroom fine, BUT if they are paying for public space on the ship such as seats in the theater and the DR's then that separates the ship into first class, & second class just like the old ocean liners and removes that space for others to use. Just a bad idea to increase revenue.

I'm not sure either but we do have a celebrity cruise booked which includes a butler. Guess we'll find out.

The way it's been explained is that the room steward takes care of the room and the butler takes care of you. For example, if you order room service, the butler will actually serve the courses of the meal as if you were in a restaurant. I understand that few, if any, ask the butler to actually do their unpacking.

On RCI, the concierge will meet you in the suites lounge and will escort you off the ship. The concierge has priority codes for the elevators to bypass other floors. He can also escort you around long lines. The butler on NCL performs these functions as well as meeting you at check-in and escorts you to your room.

Carnival is the only line that I know of that doesn't provide enhanced access to public spaces for suites passengers.

Question:

How appealing is the following group of additional Full Suite Amenities:

Reserved Theater Seating -- Personally, I see this as useless as my idea of a great location to sit may be quite different from Princess' idea where the reserved section should be. Just as their idea of better cabin locations differs from my preferences.

Reserved Seating for Movies Under the Stars -- same comment as for theater seating

Daily Complimentarey Lunch in Specialty Restaurants -- I would rather they open a dining room on port days for all passengers.

Dining in an Exclusive Area of the Main Dining Rooms -- So much for sitting with your non-suite family and friends.

In Suite Embarkation Day Lunch

Upgraded L'Occitane Bathroom Amenities

Daily Bottled Water

Then, finally, they asked what amenities would be appealing?

I listed these but am interested in your ideas!

Tender tickets for return to ship -- Although nice, can create ill feelings when other passengers find they cannot get on that line.

Priority line to board ship on dock in port

Chilled, bottled water when returning to ship in port

Dedicated stewards with fewer cabins to service. -- That one would certainly come at a cost to Princess. So how much more are you willing to pay for a suite to have your steward service less cabins?

I have to say that most of their ideas would not sway me to spend more but that's just me!

We just got it today for suite room perks. MOST IMPORTANT IS GOOD MATTRESSES. We then said large aft balconies which are covered. Then, spending all the money for a suite, we feel they should have suites be the first to get on the ship instead of with all the elites. All the extra money paid should be worth something. I also said they should keep the promenade, keep the fresh flowers in the suites and also give a welcome bottle of champagne, which does not cost them much it is just a classy thing to do. I do not feel we should have to pay for reserved seats with all the money paid for a suite. I feel it should be given as it is on Royal Caribbean.

Should have mentioned the good mattresses.

Did mention that we valued large balconies with plenty of cover.

BTW, did you notice the two bottles (small) of sparkling wine in the fridge? They're part of the liquor package. We didn't see them until a couple of days into the cruise.

Couldn't care less about the reserved seating.

I chuckled about the upgraded toiletries - I always bring a new bar of L'Occitane Verbena soap! I know I'm on vacation when I unwrap the bar.

Suite guests should also be able to reserve in advance of the cruise: specialty dining, Chef's and Winemaker's dinners, and Sanctuary loungers. This benefit would cost Princess ZERO dollars.

Suite guests should board before any other guests.

If they close skywalkers to suites only that would be the end of my Elite Princess cruising days. That is the only place on the ship with a view.
