Rare The-Inside-Cabin Posted June 6, 2016 Author #1776 Share Posted June 6, 2016 The model # is DIR-510L. We were trying to connect to our mobile phone for the hotspot. But with it being in airplane mode, hotspot wasn't an option. So if I read your directions correctly, we get on wifi with our phone to the D link app, then search on D link for hotspots and icafe should be an option. Thanks for your help. If you go to airplane mode first....you can then activate wifi and stay in airplane mode for everything else....you will see airplane mode symbol and wifi symbol. I read the manual, you are looking to set it up in hotspot mode on page 7. Another good place to check for tips in in the review in Amazon for your product. Many reviewers describe how to set up various features. Try using it at home and get it to work there. Then take it to a McDonalds or Starbucks and experiment with their free Wi-Fi. If you can get it working at Starbucks you will be good to go for your next cruise. Your phone CAN be in airplane mode and still receive a WiFi signal Edited June 6, 2016 by The-Inside-Cabin

Thanks for taking us along! I am working on an extensive update regarding world cruise financial planning. How can you budget for a world cruise? I have created a handy spreadsheet to use and will be posting it on the blog soon. It will be interactive and pretty handy. Look for it late tonight or tomorrow. I will also be blogging on my first multi-day AMTRAK trip from San Diego to Cleveland in a small "cabin" In August I will be on the Viking Star and in October on the Zuiderdam Stay tuned! Rare The-Inside-Cabin Posted June 17, 2016 Author #1788 Share Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Here is the LINK to our Cruise Director's Gene Young end of cruise video. This is extremely well done and everyone should find it extremely entertaining. It is also a great example of how to edit your own videos. Short clips, quick cuts, no fancy transitions. I saw Gene filming much of this on his PHONE! These phones can be amazing under the correct lighting. Enjoy! The time line says it is 20 minutes long, but it is only 5 minutes. The last 15 minutes are black. The first song is "I would walk 500 miles" by The Proclaimers. The final song is a beautiful rendition of "For Good" from the musical "Wicked" sung by someone who sounds an awful lot like Gene Young. This same link will take you to a video showing the entertainer highlights. Enjoy! Edited June 17, 2016 by The-Inside-Cabin
SilvertoGold Posted June 17, 2016 #1789 Share Posted June 17, 2016 THANK YOU!!!! What an outstanding video! 5 stars for sure!! I giggled through the whole thing and have replayed it twice already. What a lot of work to film this and then put it together. I hope Gene knows how much appreciated this is! Thanks again, Pete.

Check it out. http://www.theinsidecabin.com Pete, I think I counted eight pieces of luggage for this trip? If so, did you take all eight pieces or picked up a couple along the route to bring home various gifts? I was thinking for either an 80 day or World Voyage of one 28", one 26" and a carry on, per person. Too much or too little? Virginia

My favorite part was the Guest Services staff ducking down behind the counter to avoid "Irate Passenger" ... Yes! And Presti using the coffee pot as a mirror, the bridge team with the upside down map, the Culinary Ops Manager in the soup pot, the Cellarmaster drinking the wine tasting, the Yum Yum men scarfing down the mints with the DRM Tom G. walking by, CC's favourite SO, and on and on. Virginia Not Pete but I took three 28" suitcases and a 22" carryon for a 118 day world cruise. I came home with one more. I know people who have gone with one suitcase and one couple who had 16. It all depends on what you feel you need. Just keep in mind the size of your cabin!

One thing that's different between Cunard and HAL (unless Cunard does this for full WC people but not segmenters) is that each formal night HAL distributes a "pillow gift" (I think Pete and Judy have a list in their blog). On my 27 day HAL segment I probably got enough for 1/4 extra bag so you could easily add one additional bag for that on a full WC. IIRC, one of the pillow gifts is a nice duffel bag which might be about right to tote all the gifts home. Roy

Roy HAL used to give out a lot more pillow gifts on Grand Voyages than they do now, the idea being quality over quantity. On one cruise we took home one 24 inch suitcase stuffed with these gifts. They were nice enough to keep, too, and I still use a couple of them on cruises and some of the plates are used as well. Virginia We added the 2 duffel bags to the mix that we got for pillow gifts. We shipped more boxes than we brought back. We brought back more stuff than we left with. Your proposed packing will be on the light side of what I have seen, but well within what I would consider a normal range. For longer cruises you have to think about what kind of consumables you may bring that you wouldn't bring on a shorter cruise. Also, packing for 14 formal nights could mean 14 different gowns or zero depending on your preference. As I mention, we knew someone who brought a different dress for every night of the cruise. Never wore the same dress twice at dinner. Also consider that you will likely need some cool weather clothes for most longer cruises. Here is a LINK to the new table. Pete - I am having trouble again with reading your blog. I clicked on the link and it took me to the page that said "fort Knox" I clicked on it and it brought me to the page with you holding the casino chips. I clicked on where it said "People asked me how much..." and it takes me back to the red "ft knox" pic. What am I doing wrong?
