Hi All

We are a British couple sailing on Eclipse out of Miami in March. We fly in a day before the ship sails so we need to book an overnight hotel stay and we would appreciate recommendations. We will have an afternoon and an evening in which to enjoy our surroundings so we are looking for a good quality hotel in a pleasant safe area where we can explore and dine. We look forward to hearing from you.

Lots to choose from in the downtown Miami area - all are about a $25+ cab ride from the MIA airport.

Hampton Inn Mary Brickell

Intercontinental

Hyatt

Doubletree

Marriott (next door to the Doubletree)

Depending upon your budget and desire for nightlife you could stay in Miami Beach, especially the South Beach area. Lots of nightlife and dining within walking distance of any hotel in the area. Taxi from MIA to SB will run about $35+

Good luck! :)

To add to John's list,

JW Marriott on Brickell

Marriott Marquis

Conrad

Epic

Viceroy

Mandarin oriental (expensive)

Four Seasons

Many of these can be had at great prices on lastminutetravel.com The Four Seasons can at times be booked for a great price.

Holiday Inn Bayside

Hyatt

JW Marriott

Four Seasons (highest price of the ones I've listed)

Once again...I call on you as you are a ton on knowledge!

I've been wondering about the Biltmore! My flight gets in around 11:00 am on a Friday next August. If I stayed at the Biltmore, is there enough to do in the area without a car? Restaurants? I'm all on my own so no one else to please but myself!! ;)

Yes!! OMG the area is absolutely beautiful! You can either cab or uber over to the Miracle Mile and shop and dine.

Very safe area, gorgeous, amazing.

Ortanique is one of the best restaurants you'll ever eat in!

The Biltmore itself is one of the most beautiful hotels on the planet.

I'm jealous! One of my girlfriends was in town for the Dolphins football game Sunday and stayed there and we had an amazing day at the hotel.

I'd watch the weather and wait until the last minute.

If it is chilly and windy (low 70s) pick the Biltmore as it will be warmer inland and you can have a pool day.

If it is hot and sunny, pick South Beach.

Good idea! Plus last minute may have better deals!!

How far away is "Ortanique is one of the best restaurants you'll ever eat in!" from the Intercontinental? Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would stay at the Holiday In Miami Downtown.

You have the Bayside Shopping Center right across the street.

They have great Dining there and it's nice to just walk around.

Personally for one night I would not go to Miami Beach.

to get there taked forwever.

I did it once after a cruise for 2 nights.

I got my car at the Airport and drove there around 3pm. Took me an hour from downtown to my Hotel in Miami Beach due to the traffic on Collins Ave.

Don't get me wrong, Miami Beach is great, but just for one night after a transatlantic flight I would rather stay at a Airport Hotel or Downtown

Another vote for the Club floor at the Intercon. :)
