Lamb recommendations for Auckland

Recommended Posts

We will be in Auckland from noon to 9:00 p.m. We would like to try New Zealand lamb as a break from ship food. Any restaurant recommendations?

Hop on the ferry across to Devonport and head for the Esplanade Hotel on the waterfront ....

Regards

John

Difficult to recommend a restaurant on its lamb as menus are constantly changing as indeed are some restaurants.

Your difficulty will come in choosing from a myriad of great restaurants within walking distance of your ship

Here are a few to check out on Google. They all have web sites so you can check out the menu....there will also be daily specials.

Within walking distance;

Viaduct Restaurants......A big selection ,Soul is my favourite in this precinct

Princes Wharf Restaurants ....... home to Euro , always winning awards.

Wynyard Quarter Restaurants ..... lots of new restaurants

Sails Restaurant ....a bit further on from Wynyard ....a short taxi ride

Esplanade Hotel at Devonport...short ferry ride as stated above

Langham Hotel ...uptown short taxi ride

also check out Ponsonby and Parnell venues

Antoines in Parnell has consistently been on top for many a year.

It is also recognised that the finest lamb gets exported , so the lamb you have on board may be from the best cuts.

However it wont come within a whisker of a freshly prepared dish on shore from a good restaurant.

The revolving restaurant at the top of Auckland's Sky Tower serves NZ lamb (both lunch and dinner).

Don't Maccas in NZ have McLamb Burgers?

When I was in Halifax, Canada a few months ago, Maccas had McLobster burgers, true.

Fair chance Garry72 will have NZ Lamb available on board anyway, roast lamb, lamb shanks, lamb chops, lamb cutlets.

A lot of the Auckland pubs will also have a decent variety of lamb dishes. Several up from the pier in Queen St?

Any recommendation for casual restaurants in Sydney at or near the Rocks...

There are a variety of restaurants to suit all budgets on the eastern side of Circular Quay (Opera House side). Most of them are pretty good. Buckleys Bar is great for a casual meal. The Sydney Cove Oyster Bar is excellent but expensive but worth it if you can get a table at the water's edge.

Spoilt for choices.

Most of the pubs do a good lunch.

Mrs and Miss Gut love the Pancake factory.

A few delightful little cafe's too, where George st meets Hickson Road.

Always me favorite Uncle Les.

Love a Harry's Tiger.

Mrs Gut being a delicate little thing has the vegetarian (strange woman that).
