KimboJam Posted January 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Does anyone bring their own snacks on board? Like chips, nuts, cookies, trail mix? Any suggestions for snacks that stand up to "cabin life" better than others?

Any suggestions for snacks that stand up to "cabin life" better than others? We always bring a big plastic jar of cashews and roasted peanuts and a party size bag of M&Ms. They hold up pretty well. Nothing to crack, crumble, or spill.

SECdawg Posted January 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We have brought nuts and pretzels on board for snacks during sail-away from our balconies.
Langley Cruisers Posted January 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Yes, all of the above. Indeed there is plenty of food on board and some may wonder why bring snacks - but sometimes you just want a little piece of chocolate or some nuts or something. It's all good. :)
Cuizer2 Posted January 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) Does anyone bring their own snacks on board? Like chips, nuts, cookies, trail mix? Any suggestions for snacks that stand up to "cabin life" better than others? Most cruise lines have chips in the buffet around lunch time. There are plenty of nuts running around the ship, just pick one or two you like. Most cruise lines have cookies. Unless you count the running track, the promenade or the ropes courses, there are no trails on the ships. PS - what is the record for the number of people posting at once. When I first looked nobody had responded. Now there are five. Edited January 26, 2016 by Cuizer2
Wilson Posted January 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) Rice Krispy treats, peanut M&M's and granola bars. If we fly they are placed in our carry-on so that we can snack on them during flight. Edited January 26, 2016 by WilsonFamilyNRH
Paul65 Posted January 26, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2016 There are plenty of nuts running around the ship, just pick one or two you like. True. I usually get to know a couple of nuts by the end of a voyage.
cincicruisers Posted January 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We always bring some nuts and bar crunchy mix. Sometimes you just want a salty snack while at the bar.
wants2cruise2 Posted January 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Something salty, something sweet, and small packs of cookies, i love snacking on planes and in my cabin. It's vacation, calories don't count.
joand452 Posted January 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We usually bring some pre-wrapped packs of snack crackers -- you know, cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers. Whatever is left over (unopened) we leave for the cabin steward. We've been told more than once how much those snacks are appreciated. Maybe they were just being polite? We'll continue to leave them -- at least the attendant can have something in his cabin. We also pack individual snack bags of trail mix or pistachios. We tend to spend time in our cabin in the afternoon relaxing, and like having snacks available, without having to traipse around the ship looking for something. And the nuts are healthier than coconut ranger cookies! The nuts, not necessarily the trail mix!
tamara01 Posted January 26, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We bring some cashews, chocolate and sometimes prepackaged crackers or granola bars. Yes, there is always a lot of food around but sometimes we just want a few bites of something in the room. We usually never eat everything we take but it is nice to know it is there, ha

Paul65 Posted January 26, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 26, 2016 To answer the original question, though, I don't generally bring any snacks on with me, but there is one time that I brought a bag of Dove chocolates, to do our own version of turn-down "pillow chocolates" like they used to have. Other than that, the only snacks we have would be any leftovers from snacks we may have brought along for our travel to the port. I can understand some wanting to do so, though. There is plenty of food around, but if you have a particular favorite, it can be nice to have that on hand. :)
dpostman Posted January 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 26, 2016 WOW... I never thought there would be so many that brought snacks on board. When I first read the thread title I honestly told myself, "They must be crazy" ;) I can truly say that on our last cruise, it took about 4 days after disembarkation before my stomach even started showing hints of the feeling of hunger, it took me a minute to even realize that it was hunger, cause I had forgotten what it felt like :o I don't bring snacks, but I do bring a big bottle of TUMS :D dp
cb at sea Posted January 26, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We've never brought snacks...guess we're not "snackers"! The food onboard is ample for us!
Toddcan Posted January 26, 2016 #18 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We always bring snacks. Very often they are either minty chocolates, or licorice type snacks. We only eat them in our cabin and on our balcony.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted January 26, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 26, 2016 I bring pretzels or snack crackers [cheezit, bar mix, etc]. I find that after a week onboard I miss salty snacks.
Rare fletch1027 Posted January 26, 2016 #20 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We bring snacks for the car ride in each direction, but not usually on the ship. There are enough 24 hour snack places on Freedom / Oasis that I try to "earn" a snack by walking to get it. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Setting sail for fun Posted January 26, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 26, 2016 We sometimes brings snacks as listed above and then I usually take them home. We don't get hungry after eating all of the food available on the ship!
shanley Posted January 26, 2016 #22 Share Posted January 26, 2016 I bring gluten free snacks for the flights and sometimes in port if the excursion is long or runs into the lunch hour. They are not usually eaten on board unless my husband forgot to take his meds at supper and needs some food to take it with. mrpayroll Posted January 26, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) Always bring a bag of Red licorice.. Take it on excursions since it doesn't melt.... Edited January 26, 2016 by mrpayroll
GolfMom321 Posted January 27, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 27, 2016 I bring some little 100 calorie packs of nuts. I need to eat something with my pills at bedtime, and these are perfect. I just wish there was somewhere onboard that you could get fruit late in the evening. That would be a better snack.
bobbie0253 Posted January 27, 2016 #25 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Room service usually has a fruit plate :) and we usually grab some fruit from windjammer to keep in the room. Edited January 27, 2016 by bobbie0253
