golfer1966 Posted February 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Not only did they leave Port Everglades late on Sat, now they could not stop at Costa Maya due to high winds. So now they have two sea days. I bet some folks arent happy...

btoneill Posted February 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2016 As I always tell any friends looking to go on a cruise, NEVER book a cruise based on the destinations. If you want to visit a specific island, plan a direct vacation there. If you do that, you'll never be disappointed. :)

bobbie0253 Posted February 2, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2016 We have missed many ports in our cruising history. It's always a bit disappointing. Hope all onboard are focusing on a great sea day instead. Still I would be bummed to miss Costa Maya. We've never had a bad time there.
DrD Posted February 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) If you read the cruise contract, (who does that?) you'll find they can miss any ports and do not owe any compensation: Carrier may for any reason at any time and without prior notice, cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled sailing, port of call, destination, lodging or any activity on or off the Vessel, or substitute another vessel or port of call, destination, lodging or activity. Carrier shall not be liable for any claim whatsoever by Passenger, including but not limited to loss, compensation or refund, by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement, substitution or deviation. jagsfan Posted February 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2016 It still hurts. We missed Cork in Ireland and Falmouth in Cornwall, and received Dover instead. Guess which one we'd already visited several times? Just wring all the fun of being on a cruise outbid every day.
bouhunter Posted February 2, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Wait until they have to deal with debarkation. Heard other stories here lately. I'm thinking we might be glad we booked our flight in November for the day after our Indy cruise:D
FLACRUISER99 Posted February 2, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Wait until they have to deal with debarkation. Never had a problem the 4 times I have been on the Indy Me either, debarked in December without a problem.
RICKnVICK Posted February 2, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 2, 2016 I feel bad for the cruisers that they are missing a port, BUT....it is hard to feel too bad for them as I sit here at my desk at work. I would certainly rather be on a cruise ship than at work! :)

Certainly a point well taken and good for all to know, but nobody on the thread has yet mentioned anything about compensation for missing the port of call.
Setting sail for fun Posted February 3, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We have missed a few ports over the years and it is always my excuse to take another cruise and try again. Still sorry they are have had a difficult time.

yogimax Posted February 3, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Me either, debarked in December without a problem. It MAY depend on whether you debark on Monday or Saturday. On Saturday, Oasis is in port and uses the new terminal while Indy has to use the old one. This is just a guess.

bobbie0253 Posted February 3, 2016 #24 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Didn't a ship once hit that pier? It doesn't surprise me that a captain would err towards caution there.

Grandeur hit it in 2005. 17 mph winds and 3 mph current. Put a non ship threatening gash in the hull above the waterline.
