Rare Keith1010 Posted March 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2016 From time to time some on this board ask about doing a tour of Jewish areas of Venice. I thought this article would be of interest. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/13/travel/venice-italy-jewish-ghetto.html?hpw&rref=travel&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=well-region®ion=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well&_r=0 Keith
lisiamc Posted March 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Great article, Keith. Thank you! We took the ghetto tour a few years ago, and found it very worthwhile.
KirkNC Posted March 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2016 We spent several days in Venice a few years ago and also enjoyed a 1/2 day in the ghetto.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Very interesting article. Definitely interested in this tour next time I'm in Venice. Interestingly, the Jewish ghetto of Rome is one of the oldest settlements of Jews outside of Palestine; it seems the first Jews arrived in Rome in the 2nd century BC. The food in Rome's Jewish quarter today is probably one of the best representations of traditional (ancient) Roman cookery.

4774Papa Posted March 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2016 Ditto, the Ghetto is not very far from the main Venice rail station, very walkable from there.
