dandee2 Posted March 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2016 The title says it all. What did Celebrity do with the Normandie memorabilia that used to be placed at the entrance of the Normandie restaurant (original wall panel, etc) and the Normandie statue in the MDR? Welland Posted March 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2016 The title says it all. What did Celebrity do with the Normandie memorabilia that used to be placed at the entrance of the Normandie restaurant (original wall panel, etc) and the Normandie statue in the MDR? Thanks Some of the memorabilia is supposedly being displayed in a showcase near the casino. The original wall panels were to be carefully removed, packed and shipped for use elsewhere within the fleet (would assume the new Edge class ships). The statue of Normandie was to remain in the restaurant. As the ship has returned from dry dock and there is a charter on board this week, perhaps during the following week someone will report back. JLightning11 Posted March 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2016 On Infinity, they moved most of the SS United States memorabilia into a room between the casino and the photo area. I'd assume they would do something similar with the Normandie memorabilia.

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted March 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2016 All of the Ocean Liner restaurants served the same food as Murano. The only thing that differed from Murano was the decor. Yes but they're not being turned into Murano. They are being dumbed-down into Tuscan Grills.
Rare Germancruiser Posted June 16, 2020 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2020 I just digged up this old topic. I take it the Normande Restaurant memorabilia is no installed on board the new Edge? Or was it the Apex?
BigAl94 Posted June 16, 2020 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2020 I often wondered what became of the beautiful walnut panelling from the SS Olympic that adorned the original Olympic restaurant on Millennium as built.

dabear Posted June 17, 2020 #16 Share Posted June 17, 2020 (edited) We went to all three restaurants, Normandie, SS United States and Olympic and really enjoyed both the memorabilia and classic meals. One of X's better ideas. Edited June 17, 2020 by dabear
Rare Germancruiser Posted June 17, 2020 #17 Share Posted June 17, 2020 Thanks all for those great answers and the pictures. That is what set X- Millenium apart- now - after all those refits they lost that touch. However I am glad to see the Specialty Restaurants reemerge on their newer liners. excitedofharpenden Posted June 17, 2020 #19 Share Posted June 17, 2020 hcat, thanks for the photos. Nice memories of those beautiful spaces. SS United States on Infinity was a favourite of mine. Brighter and airier, but still classical with the louvres over those big round windows. Phil

I like it how it all looks fancy and stuff, like a Titanic style but I doubt it will suite much of its passangers. I mean the statistics show that the majority of people traveling these days are youg people and they prefer a much more easy style. Also, the place on the photo looks quite dark. I hate seating in the dark
Rare hcat Posted June 17, 2020 #21 Share Posted June 17, 2020 Agree...it does look dated, too " heavy" and dark. We liked the main dining rooms on EDGE, esp Tuscan. But these rooms are for everyday. The Specialty Fine Cut did not have a an appealing decor or vibe...and BLU was nice except for the view. Hoping to try Luminae one day

Luv2Crus40 Posted June 17, 2020 #24 Share Posted June 17, 2020 Miss the Normandie restaurant on the Summit. Dining in the restaurant truly gave a vision of the original dining on ocean liners. The ambiance, food and service was excellent. Now that they have dumbed down this eating area to Tuscan Grille, we don't go there anymore.
Rare Germancruiser Posted June 18, 2020 #25 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Thanks for sharing the picture of Baudry´s Normandie. I wonder what happen with that one? I agree- there nothing really "Speical " about Tuscany. LOL.
