How much money should I bring?

No one can answer that question for you! So many variables and personal differences.

Are you including transportation from airport/hotel? Appropriate tips? Excursions? Shopping?

Casino? Ports of call?

Basically, everything on board ship is charged to your daily account. Easiest and usual to guarantee with a credit card. Everything will be posted to your account and paid by credit card.

How are you paying your onboard account? If credit card, then you really only need cash for gambling, and small purchases ashore...although I LIKE having PLENTY of cash...you just never know what will come up! You can always take the cash home again!

I am a believer in bringing cash with me whenever I travel because things happen and you might need the cash. For example some type of family emergency or even missing the ship.

cb at sea covered the areas that ou might need cash. I would add to it taking taxis, tips for room service, tips for porters as well.

But I would add to this emergency money. I would take at least a few hundred dollars for that even if you have an ATM Card where you could get some cash.

I take $100 for each day we are gone (most of this I get from my rewards points on my credit card as I cash it out right before cruising). At the embarkation port and for the trip down/back, some excursions, and S&S card we use our credit card. I spend cash on tips, porters, taxi's, small souvenirs, and some excursions. I usually bring back 1/2 to 2/3 of what we take and put it in the bank to go towards paying back the credit card when it comes due...but at least I have it on me if I need it for an emergency.

I figure out how much I will "let" myself lose in the casino each night and then figure out how much cash I will need for shore activities. Also, lots of single and fives for tipping. I usually do not carry more than a few hundred dollars in cash on me at a time- lock the rest up in the safe.

I agree about having a good amount of cash and a couple of credit cards for unexpected expenses.

Depends upon what you have paid for in advance; what you are planning to buy on the ship; what independent excursions you plan to do; whether you are going to pay for on-ship excursions with your credit card or with cash; what sort of junk you are planning to buy on shore and whether you will be paying in cash or by credit card; etc., etc., etc. Since you have giving us no information to go by, if we try to answer, the GIGO principle applies.

We will be sailing on a 7 day cruise and I'm curious what would be the appropriate amount to bring per person. Thanks in advance!

Only you can answer this question. Do you prefer cash or using a credit or debit card. If you use only cash you need a lot more than if you use a card.

Personally for a week I can get away with less than $100, but I don't hesitate to use plastic.

I believe it doesn't just depend on you, but where you are going on your 7 day cruise!

In 2011 we budgeted almost $200 on everyone to bring in cash for a family of 4. Then again, we had 4 ports, and private excursions booked at 3 of them that needed paid in cash!

In August, I brought less than $25 pp/pd for 4 people yet again just for port expenses. 2 ports and a private island. Planned on doing all beach days so no real need for money.

In June, I have budgeted $500 in cash for 3 people. This isn't just for Bermuda! This is for driving to and from port, food for driving and dinner the night before the cruise, and everything we need on Bermuda! Again totally doing everything by bus/ferry on the island and already determined the cost of everything I want to do. I have almost $200 "play money" left over after that $500 also!

Then again, DH doesn't drink at all, I rarely drink, DS is only 14 and already has a soda package (which he won't use but it was free so /shrug). I fully admit I have a gambling problem so I actually set up my card so it can't be used in the casino. 90% of thing I pre-pay if I can.

No one can say what your spending habits are and how comfortable you are using cash vs plastic in an unfamiliar location. CC's can be amazing with all the protections they offer you though in fraudulent charges vs loosing all your cash.

700 per person per day! 200 spending and 500 gambling!:D then another 10 grand ( 5,000. for jewelry/5,000. for on board art auction). I'm just guessing, but 20,000. should do it.:)

Yeah, I think that falls under the category of "Lots". 😎
