You are not automatically provided a "drink menu". You can go to guest services and they can give you a copy of the brands of liquor covered by your package.

The other thing that will help you know what is covered is to keep the price limits in mind. The Classis package covers wine by the glass up to $9. So if you order a wine that is $10 you will over the limit and will be charged the total amount-not just the difference. Cocktails up to $8.

Most basic cocktails ( piña colada, rum & coke, gin & tonic, margarita) are cover as long as they are made using the the liquor on the list.

At guest services there is a large list of the brands and also specific drinks that are included

It was very helpful

Your bartender and/or wine steward can also make suggestions on what is included if you give some ideas if what you like

I did my first cruise with celebrity last year and go so stressed out about the 'classic drinks package'. I was so worried as I didn't know what was included what wasn't. I was scared we would have the choice of one sort of watery beer, house red and a watered down cocktail...how wrong we were.

We didn't have a drinks menu or couldn't find one, but it was so simple in the end, we just used to tell the bar tender we were on the classic package and ask what the choice of beer or shorts were. As a UK'er it was great to see that beers we would normally call 'premium' like Leffe were on the classic package. Sprits were fine with a choice of brands and for cocktails you just asked for what you wanted and they made it with the brands available in the classic package. Lovely choice of wine as well

So if you are happy with a nice drink to relax with - classic is fine.

If you want to drink grey goose or Glenfidic all week then go for the premium.

Don't worry about the price list..just ask, they are so used to it.

An there is a definite difference between what a US ship calls a premium brand and what a Brit would.

There were menus on the tables in the Oceanview Bar listing the beer and wine available on the classic package.

Someone on my roll call asked me to list the wines available within the classic package so here goes:

Mezzacoron,a Dolomiti Pinot Grigio

Clifford Bay, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (this is actually on the premium package but they did have a sauvignon blanc available for classic as well)

St Francis, Sonoma & Seeker Chardonnay

Beringer White Zinfandel, California

Clos De Chance Merlot

Castle Rock, St Helena Pinot Noir

Excelsior, South Africa & Wente, California Cabernet Sauvignon

There were probably a few others available in some of the venues onboard but these are the ones that were listed on the menu.

For beers --

Amstel Light (premium)

Bud and Bud Light (Classic)

Coors Light (Classic)

Corona and Corona Light (Classic)

Rebel IPA (Premium)

Heineken (Classic)

Peroni (Premium)

Sam Adams (Premium)

Sierra Nevada (Premium)

Stella Artois (Premium)

I think the Gastro Bar may have even had a larger selection of craft beers available.

As far as the well drinks, just ask your bartender for one that meets the classic package pricing and they will fix you up. I have noticed that if they are out of the call liquors, they might put a premium liquor in your drink instead. I wouldn't count on it but you may get lucky once or twice.

I also noticed that some bars would cover a certain drink under the classic package and some would not. I was in the casino and ordered a Kir Royal under the classic package ... nope! But only that one time. I had been getting Kir Royals the entire time just not that one time. I wasn't trying to get away with anything ... just was told they were on the classic package by numerous others. So lesson is, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again....just with somebody else or a different bar.

Not sure if this is fleet wide but the martini bar doesn't have any martinis on the classic package. If you go downstairs (deck 3), you can get one with a non-premium liquor, albeit a smaller version....but as many as you like so that doesn't bother anyone.

This November will be our first Celebrity Cruise and first cruise with a drink package. When I order a drink at a bar or restaurant, do I need to announce that I'm on the classic package? As in "I'd like a pina colado from the classic package"? Or do I just ask for the drink and then when the bartender runs my card he/she sees the package and doesn't run a charge slip?

Just order the drink. Your sea pass card indicates that you have the package. When the server swipes your card, it will just go through as a zero transaction. The only time you need to be concerned is if you are asked to sign something. This will mean that there is a charge. I also keep an eye on our account on the TV in our cabin to be sure that no mistaken charges have been made. A simple trip to guest services will correct any errors.

That isn't how it's done -- at least not on Celebrity -- a drinks menu would be huge, there are whole books listing how to make many kinds of specialty drinks -- sidecars, martinis, Singapore sling, grasshopper, daiquiri, rum punch, Black Russian, white Russian, manhattan, cosmopolitan, Moscow mule, Cuba libre, vodka gimlet, dark & stormy, the list goes on and on. And they are constantly making up new ones. This in in addition to standard mixed drinks like scotch & water, gin & tonic.

And as for prices on the menus, there are two pricing systems in place -- one if you are sailing from certain ports where the price of the drink includes the gratuity and one if the gratuity is tacked on to the price. The total comes out the same, it's just how it's listed.

So, maybe it will help if you tell us where you will be sailing from, and what drinks you are interested in.

When we first sailed on Celebrity three years ago we didnt have an included drinks package but I bought one. Each bar had a cocktail list, not every cocktail possible, but some suggestions and this differed by Bar. It showed the ingredients and prices and I could decide which I would like to try and if it was included in the package or not. The ones I liked I could order at other bars from then on.

In the last 2 years the menus at the bars have become much shorter and and mainly show coctails outside of the classic package limit. My guess is this is to entice Classic package guests to upgrade.

I know many people will say just ask the barman for your favourite cocktail or for an idea for a cocktail but as I dont have a lot of experience of them I would prefer to look at a menu and choose and not have a barman list off suggestions. Just my preference.

If you look at my post in this thread (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2337209) I have pictures of many bar menus, etc. which might help.

Please note this was a Caribbean cruise, so not sure what might happen in Australia.

At last Killsport proof of drink menus with pricing of drinks ok next question where did you get these as it seems you are the only one who has received them all of the previous posts had no knowledge of there exiistans thank you I will be on a Europe cruies thank you Aussie

I have seen some of the bar menu's in the bars. Used them to decide what to drink.

Some seem new.

When we went last year I was going to try every cocktail in the world:mad:

I looked up the recipes. Like studying for an exam! Unfortunately I didn't like the first two or three so I gave up and just drank mudslides, cosmopolitans, prosecco and Aspen's.

All in a big bucket with a cocktail cherry, an umberella and a straw:D:D:D

I will possibly be doing the same thing in a couple of weeks.

Keep in mind that the menus at the bars are just a few of the possible drinks. As mentioned before the possible combinations of alcohol and mixers is infinite. They cannot list them all. If you want a gin and tonic and have the Classic package you will be given the house brand. If you want a gin and tonic and have the Premium package and don't specify what top shelf liquor you want you may very well be given the house brand. If you have a favorite drink just ask the bartender if it is included under the Classic package. Short of the specialty martinis at the Martini Bar I'm not sure I've heard of too many drinks that aren't included. Its the top shelf liquor that isn't included. You can have margaritas, cosmos, frozen drinks, etc. with the Classic package.

Don't think your wine choices are limited to what is on the small placard at the Oceanview Cafe or even on the MDR wine list. Neither had a sauvignon blanc listed at my price point however I just ordered a glass and every time was given one.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions.

Our upcoming cruise is in the Mediterranean. We don't have much experience with cocktails as I'm a rum & coke man & MDW often has a beer. But since the drinks are free on our last Celebrity cruise, we tried to experiment :D. I must say I enjoyed the rum punch!

Aussie One,

As said before. Each bar has a menu but that´s not a complete menu of all they can do (and sell). As I´m not an experienced bar person I find that strange too. I don´t know all the cocktails, longdrinks and more. So I do need a menu to chose from. And no, it´s not impossible to list all available cocktails on a menu. They did that before. And of course the bar staff is trained and has to be able to mix a certain array of standard cocktails and more. So surely they can list those!

The menu in the regular bars does only list the high priced specialty cocktails which are not included in the Classic Package. When I first saw this menu I was really confused as I thought that almost nothing is included in my package. I knew that the Martini Bar and the then Molecular Bar (now World Class Bar) are excluded. But I did expect a nice range of regular cocktails to be included. But none of the standard cocktails was listed in the menus of the other bars at all.

Last year on the Eclipse we did pick up a leaflet at one of the desks selling the beverage packages. Unfortunately I didn´t turn that leaflet over until I was back home. On the backside it listed not just all spirits like in the pdf linked earlier in this thread but also all available wines and a list of available standard cocktails including a Cosmopolitan, Long Island Ice Tea, Manhatten, Mojito, Caipirina and more (see photo here). None of those was listed in the standard bar menu.

Being German for me it is strange to ask for a cocktail not knowing what I have to pay for it. I can live with the upcharge of 18% called Service Charge (we are used that prices on a menu are what I pay - no VAT or any other charges which are added later). It even stranger to ask for something when you don´t know what you might ask for... Maybe that´s how the drink packages work out... don´t let the people know what´s available then they don´t drink it not knowing they can ask for it.
