Children in the Diamond Lounge?

Recommended Posts

Nightclub is not middle of the night only. And I didn't say kids should be admitted there. I am addressing the question of where are there adults only venues that kids can't go. There are two. Go enjoy the adult only space. The smoke in th casino is disgusting, RCI needs to eliminate that and make it smoke free

What time does the nightclub open?

Smoke in the casino has saved me a lot of money as I don't frequent that area due to that ...agree...it's disgusting in there and smells like an old ashtray even during the morning when you walk through it. Yuck. Look at that ...we DO have something in common after all!! :D

The bridge, the cigar lounge, the engine room, all of the crew cabins, Glitter Gulch in Las Vegas, and all the bars along Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Oh sure...I just love hanging out in all of those areas!! ;p:p But do love Bourbon street. ;)

And if people did not know you personally they would say do not bring your child. Reality is your child is allowed to join you in a lounge and I am sure you are capable to determine if their behavior is appropriate at the time.

Indeed to all above, especially portion in red. The reason we don't go is my behavior isn't appropriate,;p not to mention our ten year old would be bored with the adult discussions.:)

You don't think that parents who drink in the Lounge don't drink in front of their children at home.

What is adult conversation? Why wouldn't you want your children with you? My kids are grown but we never had a problem with them.

I do believe that parents drink in front of their children and hopefully act accordingly, but you are not alone and don't know the behavior of others. A large group of adults drinking just isn't a place for children. Now as far as adult conversation...well, if your talking about portfolio's, wife swapping, sex...hell, you could be talking about the great massage you got at 11am, its not a conversation that children would find entertaining or interesting. I like children and I have no problem with them, but there are places that are for adults only. Its just my POV. I have grown children now too...and they enjoy going into the connoisseur lounge with me and their dad. But they had to be an adult to go. We have traveled with children...we made time for their activities and made time for our activities. They can't do the same stuff all the time.

Might not be a popular sentiment, but...the Diamond Lounge is not a setting for children. However, I understand that your children may be with you. I feel like you should be able to go in, get a drink and sit somewhere other than the lounge. DL is for adults. There is alcohol, adult conversation, etc. Just because it is allowed doesn't make it right. I wouldn't want my children in a lounge...just like I wouldn't want them at a bar. No disrespect intended. Just my POV.

RCI no longer feels the DL is for adults only. Their ship , their rules. Maybe there are other adults in the DL that don't want to hear some of the "adult" conversations going on, what ever they may be. How about they open a swingers club, so people can go there and do all the "adult" stuff they no longer feel they can do in the DL.

It most certainly is RCCL's call. It is their ship and their rules. I will abide accordingly, but that doesn't change my opinion of it either. I honestly don't care what other adults want to hear or not hear. I'm not saying that adults are doing anything gregarious or rude in DL, but I also don't think that children should be everywhere and exposed to anything just because it is allowed by RCCL.

Really, on a Cruise ship that welcomes families and vacations??? We have seen well behaved children in the CL and SL.

Its not about them being well behaved. I'm sure, or least hope, people wouldn't have their children running around in the Lounge areas. I also realize that the Cruise ship welcomes families and vacations. However, they also have adult activities that are not for children. I'm sure they don't expect children playing the penny slot machines and enjoying a roll of dice at craps either. Just because its a cruise doesn't mean that children should be everywhere. There are a thousand activities and places on a ship that is all about family and for children. They may have 3 things that are not...casino, adult pool, and some lounges, oh and maybe an adult show....I mean.....

So the Diamond Lounge and CL/SL are similar to the Casino?

Look, families book cruises, who are Diamond and above and some book Suites too. They like the Lounge as do you, and also enjoy with their children.

We have all seen misbehaved kids and ADULTS.

DL/CL/SL are not similar to the casino...but I was just making the point that RCCL, while family oriented does have things specifically for adults.

We all have seen misbehaved children and adults on cruises...more so, adults, in lounges, having one too many. My POV is that some people enjoy some areas for adults only, not that children are bad or mean, or anything...but everyone doesn't want to be around your little love muffin. I personally have 3 love muffins...and they enjoyed sitting in the Viking Crown Lounge because of the view. We had no problem with that. We would get up there as often as possible to play cards, read a book, talk, or just look. Me and their dad probably had a drink...but the DL lounge is a bit different. Smaller and the focus is drinking. I'm not trying to be an advocate of anything or to make anyone feel some kind of way about taking their children. If RCCL says its a go, its a go. I'm just giving my opinion. AND.....to really burn your goose....I'm a smoker. (don't hurt me).

If a couple is in the DL or CL/SL with a small child, and then that child starts screaming, what should the parents do? Many parents will just let the child scream and do nothing. And some Concierges will also do nothing. How rude.

The thing is they are probably used to it but i personally do not want to sit and listen to a screaming baby.

Not going to hurt you. You are doing that yourself by smoking.

Second hand smoke is not good for those love muffins.

What about the loud and obnoxious ADULTS?

I've never met you lol.

Seriously we have been fortunate to date not to experience this type of individual in the DL or CL.

Don't think so unless you have a NE accent (we call them snowbirds here). I'm guessing you have a much different one. [emoji3]
