PaulaSB12 Posted July 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2016 i am going on the christmas cruise on the epic. Can you tell me what time you can swim in the pools from? I am working at getting fit so will use the treadmills in the gym but I like to swim for about an hour a day and want to keep that up over the two weeks. Rare KeithJenner Posted July 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2016 I don't know what time they open, but are you aware how small the pools are? If you swim for an hour a day then I'd guess that you would find them frustratingly small.

You will not be swimming in them. Even if the pool was empty, by the time you completed your turn you would already be at the other end :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
PaulaSB12 Posted July 31, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I wake up really early and was hoping to use the pool as soon as it opens, it does look very small so extra time on the treadmill and some other exercise machine may make up but I will still try and swim. Preferably before most people get to the pool.
FreestyleNovice Posted July 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2016 You are sharing the ship with some 4000 others, if two or three of them have the same idea as you.. In other words; as the others said don't count on being able to swim. And certainly not for an hour. Maybe a few minutes in the early morning. Try to get some dailies from a recent Epic cruise to see the opening hours.

FreestyleNovice Posted July 31, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I checked ours and can't see the pool times on them. Hmm odd, because the hot tub operating hours are or were in them?

Jade Cruise Posted August 1, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 1, 2016 Can you tell me what time you can swim in the pools from? Pools open 7am to 10pm but very small as others have said.
lauhines Posted August 1, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 1, 2016 haha I didn't realize the pools are so small. When I was looking at the pictures on the internet before booking they did not look that tiny. I don't usually get in the pool anyway but geez, they could've made them a bit bigger. Chigirlcruzin Posted August 1, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2016 I swim, too. You will not be "swimming" on the cruise. The pools are too small and crowded. You'd maybe get in three strokes per lap. Since you are going over the holiday, the ship is going to be VERY crowded. Sissaaaaaa Posted August 1, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) i am going on the christmas cruise on the epic. Can you tell me what time you can swim in the pools from? I am working at getting fit so will use the treadmills in the gym but I like to swim for about an hour a day and want to keep that up over the two weeks. Just get up early - 6am or so. You won't be able to swim laps once people arrive :D I'm sure you know the pool isn't a full size pool, but you can still easily swim laps. On our last Epic cruise, there were two guys there every morning swimming laps. It's definitely doable. cb at sea Posted August 1, 2016 #17 Share Posted August 1, 2016 Pools are for getting wet...not so much for swimming! Even if you were alone in the pool (which is nearly impossible), you would do 4-5 stokes, turn, 4-5 strokes, turn....they are small "dip" pools! 4774Papa Posted August 1, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 1, 2016 We did the Epic Western Med cruise and found the very small pool to be unusable. There were far too many people there and NCL had the music so loud that it was painful.

In the picture I posted above, it appears to be early morning, based on the shadows, and the people in the pool look like they might even be doing laps. Zeta3 Posted August 15, 2016 #20 Share Posted August 15, 2016 I did lap swimming on the Epic in the mornings, the pool is short for sure, but with the wave action/current it was usually a pretty good workout.
chengkp75 Posted August 15, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 15, 2016 I don't know if they make "portable" ones, but you could look into one of the swim tethers to give you a stationary swim, early, early in the morning.
