The Chinese tried to kill us with lead based paint and contaminated drywall, but failed. Now the South Koreans are putting little bombs, literally in our hands, and actually making us pay for said bombs. They're even selling us bigger bombs to go in our laundry rooms at home. Why are we even worried about Russia and North Korea?

We have an upcoming Princess cruise and received the following notification:

Due to the potential safety risk posed by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, we request that guests who purchased the device prior to September 15, 2016, and have yet to receive a replacement, please avoid bringing the device onboard if at all possible. As the safety of our guests and crew are always our highest priority, any guest in possession of an applicable Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone while onboard must take the following precautions:

1. Turn off device 2. Disconnect device from any charging equipment 3. Protect the power switch to prevent unintentional activationof device

We thank you for your understanding regarding this matter, and look forward to welcoming you onboard

I would hope that anyone who owns a new or older one would respect the guidelines airlines and cruises are applying , inconvenient , sure, but for the safety of all it's worth it

For their own sake, I would hope anyone with one of these would return it for something else, today at the latest. Why on earth anyone would continue to hold onto one of them is simply beyond me.

The nurses will be along soon with a nice new jacket for you.

Apparently there is a rumour that jihadists are using instead of their usual supply of explosives.

That of course could just be mocking things being blown out of proportion.

Hope they ban them on ships too since they are such a safety issue. In case you haven't heard, you can't even bring them on an airplane as of noon tomorrow. Leave them at home or you will be denied boarding.

Difference is you have to go through a metal detector when boarding a plane. No such requirement when boarding a ship.

Think you are being a little over dramatic with the "such a safety issue" part.

Incorrect. You absolutely do go through a metal detector before boarding a ship. You also put your carry on bags through the X-ray machine. Just like the airport.

While I do put my bags on an xray machine I have never walked through a metal detector while going through security.

Nonsense. They catch fire and are recalled by the manufacturer and banned from being transported via plane. Fire is no joke on a ship either. Samsung is issuing special fire proof boxes and gloves to customers to return them. Sounds like a pretty legit danger to me.

Then you must either not realized you were doing so, or haven't cruised in a very long time.

Sorry, but that is not correct. What ports do you cruise out of?

Unless your name is "wifey", you have absolutely no idea what I do and don't do and do not have the information to even begin to make such a statement since you weren't standing with me.

Well I am "wifey" - just not yours. Every port has metal detectors. Pray tell which ports do you cruise from that don't have them?

This isn't just for US ports. I have taken three cruises which began and ended in ports outside of the Western Hemisphere on ships which never see US ports, and there have been metal detectors on all embarkations including port calls. I think Nerd is either mistaken, outright lying, or has never been in a cruise except maybe a dinner cruise in some river or lake someplace.

That aside, anyone still trying to defend the Galaxy Note 7--let alone still using one--must be delusional if they don't see the inherent risk and danger.

Even Samsung has given up on the Note 7 and killed off the product line. The phone will gone down in history as a $5.3 billion loss for Samsung.

The DOT has also out right banned the phone from airplanes.

Rumors are that the Note 7 was rushed to production in order to beat the iPhone 7 to market. There are rumors now that the Galaxy S8 is being rushed to fill the gap left by the Note 7. Wall Street is hailing the move. Idiots on Wall Street and at Sumsung.

By the way, I was on a WN flight which ended up delayed Thursday night because some idiot refused to turn off his Note 7, claiming it wasn't a problem because he had never had a problem with it. SMH. He was finally escorted off the plane by the police.

Thanks Mr. Entitled Stupidhead for making me miss my tight connection and get home at 1:30 am when I had an 8:00 am meeting in my office yesterday. I hope you end up with a booger hanging out of your nose next time you are meeting with your biggest client.
