They are no longer in suites. It is all digital now and on your screen in your television with options selected there.

 

DVD's are well and truly obsolete now.

Available only for full suites. Not mini-suites. The Royal and Regal have dozens of on-demand movies and shows available for free in all cabins.

We had a catalogue listing them ( steward would bring any 2 you requested at a time) and a DVD machine to use them, in our penthouse suite recently, on the Emerald. So I guess the direct digital, on demand system is only on the newer ships. Good to have the DVD player as you can bring some of your ones from home. It would be nice to know which ships still had the player and which ships had updated to direct on demand.

This past February, in the suites on the Coral, they still had the DVD player and option to get select DVD's from where ever they keep them This was the second cruise after dry dock, and the older flat screens were still in there.

 

It's possible they have been replaced since then as they were still working on dry dock items when we were on board.

Not true for the non Royal class ships (except the Diamond & Sapphire I believe). We just got off the CB in Sept. We were in the Grand Suite and had a dvd player in the living room. We also asked for and received a second DVD player for the tv in our bedroom.....:):):)

I believe that the Royal, Regal, Sapphire (and possibly the Diamond) are the only ships with on demand video and no DVD players in full suites. Full suites on all other ships should have the DVD players.

I can't imagine wanting to bring my own DVD from home to watch in my cabin. That's something I can do anytime at all when I'm home!

It's sure nice to have the ability to catch up on some movies I haven had the time to watch at home.
