Artemis908 Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2016 This will be my first Celebrity cruise, Royal Caribbean has been my favorite cruise line but there was a great deal with Celebrity I couldn't pass up. What is the first thing you do when you board? Do you go eat? Where do you like to eat the first day? Is there any activities you like to do before the ship gets hectic and full? cb at sea Posted December 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We don't eat as the 1st thing to do! We have a late breakfast, so we can skip the "feeding frenzy"...and we head to the pool, get a "we're on vacation" drink...and relax until muster! If we get peckish later, we'll stop by the buffet and grab something...by then, the masses are usually out of there!
caribsun Posted December 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2016 I get pool towels and save two lounge chairs.:p
davekathy Posted December 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We eat breakfast at our pre-cruise hotel so we don't eat when we first board. As we enter the ship we enjoy a glass or two of the welcome aboard champagne (sparkling wine) that they hand you. After that we wonder around the ship and explore. Take some video and still shots. Go to my stateroom, get rid of all my luggage, then head up to the Lido or Sun deck (Princess) and stay for the Sailaway Party and photo opportunities. maljeff Posted December 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We always eat a late breakfast or early lunch so we're not hungry (and grupmy) when we 1st get on. We grab a mimosa and explore. We stay away from oceanview and instead eventually make our way to the Mast Grill. It's usually completely dead or not very busy.
zoncom Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) I usually open bag and hang up any clothing that will wrinkle, steaming them in shower if necessary.Only takes a few moments. Edited December 12, 2016 by zoncom
bigbenboys Posted December 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 12, 2016 The welcome onboard sparking wine. Then to Luminae for lunch about 12 noon. Stop by Michael's Club for another glass of wine. Then off to our sky suite. If we booked Aqua we get to the ship about 1pm. Then we go to our cabin. Up stairs for some food and drinks to bring back to our deck. Might go check out the machines in the casino. See if they got any new machines.

SPacificbound Posted December 13, 2016 #15 Share Posted December 13, 2016 We don't board until 1-1:30 so usually we go check out the cabin and leave our carry on and then go look around and get something to eat.
DYKWIA Posted December 13, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) 1 - go to guest services and cancel all gratuities 2 - seek out our cabin steward and hand over a document containing our requirements 3 - Go to the MDR and pick the table where we intend to dine for the duration of the cruise, £10 to the MAitre D usually works to get others moved as necessary. 4 - sign in for our Muster Drill and then promptly leave again and return to our cabin. 5 - get our cabin steward to bring some extra furniture for our balcony - footstools and spare chairs etc 6 - head to the buffet, put a couple of newspapers and drinks on the best table to reserve them and leave. 7 - head to Cafe Al Bacio, usually busy so a quick click of the fingers, a shout of "oi" and the wave of £5 will ensure a decent table and prompt service. 8 - head to the Solarium, put our "closed for private party signs" on the doors and enjoy the privacy of the pool to ourselves. 9 - my wife likes the attention, so she will put a white shirt and black trousers on and her fake "Captain Kate" badge on. Can get a bit annoying when people film her in the buffet though. 10 - head to the library and grab all the books we want (and a few more - just in case) 11 - plug in hair curlers, portable iron (for the irony) kettle and extension leads and check they're working 12 - open one of 6 or 7 bottles of spirits we've smuggled on board. The "closed for private party", "do not use this lift" , and "sorry, reserved" signs we have printed and laminated work a treat Edited December 13, 2016 by DYKWIA
