Besides the usual packing list items, what do you pack that is very helpful?

I purchased an LED type light on a bendable stand that folds very small and can clip on a chair, be put on a desk, etc. This is fabulous for getting around and reading in the cabin or balcony in the dark without disturbing your cruising companion(s).

Since I'm up daily at 4 or 5 AM, this really gets lots of use.

Extension cord and sticky notepad. I leave sticky notes on cabin door; letting my wife know where I may be on the ship. Vice versa; she leaves sticky note; like I am at the pool etc. The extension cord has like four plugs. With all our tech. I am charging phones/ camera/ipads/kindles every night. The plugs come in handy so I can charge all tech stuff in one place

Magnets, especially hooks. I put the daily schedule and any excursion tickets on the walls, hang damp but not dripping swimsuits or exercise clothes to get them out of the bathroom. Basically anything I don't want buried gets slapped on the walls.

Bathroom spray. I actually use a small inexpensive bottle of after-shower spray which I like better than an aerosol can.

We use a small piece of a solid room freshener. We keep it in a Kinder Egg container. Open it up and shake.

May I be the first to congratulate you on your 1,000th Thread!!!!

And the 1000th post on packing lists. I can't see where anyone can add to what is on the the 999 packing list threads - some of which are 100's of posts long. I did a search on the word "packing list" on this board and got 20 pages of hits.

I don't think you'll need all of the highlighters, notepads and stuff to hang up your newsletter (if you're on Carnival) since all ships now have The Hub app. Your Fun Times is on that app and you communicate via it as well. If you're not on Carnival then ignore that statement. ;)

A large manila envelope with a thin piece of cardboard. You can put all of your pictures in it so they won't get bent in your suitcase when you disembark.

Also, a 7 day pill box filled with typical OTC meds you would use at home. Tylenol, Benadryl, Claritin, Immodium, etc.

Love the manila folder w/cardboard in it....Really great idea to keep things from getting bent.

- A couple of collapsible bins for my bras/underwear/socks. It was nice to just grab and go instead of rifling through drawers. I got mine from Dollar Tree.

- A PowerCube. This has 4 US inputs plus 2 USB inputs and 4 adapter plugs so I was able to utilize the European 220v outlet (inlet?) in my stateroom to have an additional 2 USB and 4 spaces plug in spaces for charging devices.

- A Mesh Bathroom Shower Organizer. This was invaluable because our junior suite had ONE (???) triangular shelf thing in the shower and with two people it just wasn't enough and this was more than sufficient for two women.

- These magnetic hooks were AMAZING. I used them to hang up a variety of things, the heaviest was a sopping wet swimsuit from the ceiling (vertical) in the shower after washing in the sink and they held up great. I got the 25lb version, however if you hang them from the wall (horizontal) the strength is reduced by 2/3 (to less than 8.5 pounds) so I wouldn't do that unless absolutely necessary and if I did I'd make sure to get hooks with at least 25 lb VERTICAL strength. I only wish I had more than the 4 that came in this pack so I'll be buying another set for my next cruise.

- These magnetic clips. I hung up Cruise Compasses, excursion tickets, and other paper documents that came through our stateroom during the cruise. They were fine but sometimes the magnet came unattached from the metal "body" of he clip. This only happened when removing them from the walls, they never failed and fell off the wall or anything. I wouldn't repurchase these and might not take them on my next cruise.

- Nalgene travel kit in small and medium (pictured). I used the small kit on my trip and it was really useful

because some items I didn't need 3 ounces (the size of most travel containers) of, so I was able to pack a variety of different things in the same amount of space. I'm definitely getting the medium for my next trip to make use of the 4 ounce bottles and the dispensing caps.

- A thin cotton robe. I had a robe in my junior suite but I am seriously creeped out by the cleanliness of robes in hotel rooms (and cruise ships) so I loved having my own. It was affordable at less than $25, plus since it's thin it takes up hardly any space and felt like home.

- A collapsible hamper. I also got this from Dollar Tree also and it was almost too small for my 7 night cruise. I'll definitely have to upgrade for my next trip (14 night), but this cheapo one was nice to just leave behind.
