hapster85 Posted June 8, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I remember feeling the sensation for a couple of days after our first cruise back in '91, but didn't feel it at all after any of the recent cruises we've taken. I do sometimes notice it for a few hours after spending the day at the lake, bobbing around on the pontoon boat.
BOLTFISH Posted June 8, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Fishing boat 26'-50' - lasts for days, big boats-even in heavy seas never give me residual rocking! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare L454S Posted June 8, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Honestly, I have never felt that. Could be because I spend a good bit of time in a boat normally.
Philly Steve Posted June 8, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Only after our first cruise when we had a top deck cabin on the Norway with 10-foot seas. I also had ringing in my ears for a day because of the skeet shooting (remember that??).
Caravancruisers Posted June 8, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Couple of days, but if driving back from port (several hours) this helps take the edge of it.
Rare BillOh Posted June 8, 2017 #31 Share Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) Used to take a week or so. Sadly, it does not happen anymore except after transatlantic cruises. I thought this was an interesting topic, I too did this after our first 7 day cruise which had some high seas, but have not experienced it since. Wasn't sure if it was being used to cruising or just calm seas. Edited June 8, 2017 by BillOh
Tommy3putts Posted June 8, 2017 #32 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Used to take a week or so. Sadly, it does not happen anymore except after transatlantic cruises. I typically get get 5-7 days of the post cruise motion. Oddly we did our first TA this last October (15N) and I had little to no post cruise sway. Go figure. floatel_lvr Posted June 8, 2017 #33 Share Posted June 8, 2017 As others have said, I used to have the "sways" for a few days after a cruise. None at all after any of the recent ones. Maybe the stabilizers on the newer ships make the ride that much smoother...
Rare vacationlover_mn Posted June 8, 2017 #34 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I was off the ship on Sunday and it is now Wednesday and I'm still rocking back and forth in my chair. :p I had this for about a day after my first cruise. However, it doesn't happen to me anymore....
jimbri Posted June 8, 2017 #35 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I never have, thankfully.
stevemary32 Posted June 8, 2017 #36 Share Posted June 8, 2017 So glad this thread was started. I never knew that others had this problem. Mine lasts about a week. Hate that we have this issue, but is good to know that I am not alone.
SilkySal Posted June 8, 2017 #37 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I usually have the "in the shower sway" for a week or 2; maybe I should take up singing in the shower as well!! Or could it just be the body's way of urging you to "book another cruise!!";p
knittinggirl Posted June 8, 2017 #38 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I leave my transderm patch on for a few days after my cruise to hope w/ the rocking, but more importantly, the vertigo. I found the rocking very interesting after our 35-day double TA. I got on the airplane, and had no problem walking to the restroom. Usually, I'm clutching the seats to keep from falling. burm Posted June 8, 2017 #39 Share Posted June 8, 2017 Been cruising for 40 years have not had rocking in last 30 I agree. Modern ship stabilizers are just too darn efficient. 40 years ago you really noticed it when you got off the ship, but today even the smaller ships have good stabilizers. I kind of miss the wobbly legs. Next we hope to try a tall ship. I am hoping that will give me more of the motion that I miss. There's nothing like the rocking of a ship to lull you to sleep. sjb317 Posted June 9, 2017 #41 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I experienced this for about 2 weeks after our first cruise in 1999 but now I never notice it at all.:D Even after our TA's, there's been nothing. No sea sickness either, even in rough seas.:D Sherri:)
Paulette3028 Posted June 9, 2017 #42 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.....it doesn't seem to have anything to do with how long the cruise was either....nor how 'rocky' the sailing itself was. Tough to understand and we have been on over 20 cruises.
luckyinpa Posted June 9, 2017 #43 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I was off the ship on Sunday and it is now Wednesday and I'm still rocking back and forth in my chair. :p my last cruise was december. at times in shower if i close my eyes i rock maybe its just old age but for weeks after there would be times i rocked. not a bad feeling at all
Fionna Posted June 9, 2017 #44 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I've only ever done 7 day cruises, and we're booked for our 9th cruise in a few months. Only once have I had an issue post cruise, about 3 or 4 cruises ago. I'd say it lasted a good two weeks for me, and it was not a cruise with rough seas or anything. sealovers Posted June 9, 2017 #45 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Funny! I thought I was the only person that 'rocked' post cruise! After my very first 7-day cruise, I rocked for a couple of days then it just went away. We were in a cabin across the aft so maybe we experienced more constant back and forth at that location. 25+ cruises and it's never happened again.....and we have been on some rough ones:)!!! Jan_In_Maine Posted June 9, 2017 #46 Share Posted June 9, 2017 After 15 cruises I still get get it for about 3 weeks to a month each time ... It is slightly annoying, but not so much that I don't have 4 more cruises booked!!! Jan
OCruisers Posted June 9, 2017 #47 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Seems the rougher the seas you experienced while cruising, the longer the rocking continues when returning home. Also, seems folks who don't get seasick on the ship are more likely to have the "rocking" problem when returning home. Probably some truth to both. :)
CanobieFan Posted June 9, 2017 #48 Share Posted June 9, 2017 For me, it's maybe a day. But not always.
johnjen Posted June 10, 2017 #49 Share Posted June 10, 2017 Quite literally, two days after I arrive back in the states from the cruise, I'll be rockin' doing a gig with my band!
