Here's what our $1000 USD onboard credit will get us on our upcoming 24N Med cruise.

- Hotel charges $600 (non-suite)

- Unlimited laundry $216 (Europe $9 per day)

- 250 mins internet $100

- Dinner for two at Pinnacle Grill (after 3* Discount) $52.50

- Dinner for two at Canaletto $22.50 (3*)

- A glass of house wine $9

What would you spend your OBC on?

Well HSC is a given, so that part is gone, leaving you with $400.

Drinks are a given on our cruises so I buy beverage cards in advance ;)

If there were a Master Chef Table or a Cellar Master Dinner - I would go to those in the order I listed them if both are available.

And, yes, I'd do a PG dinner.

Now, there is not enough left over for laundry, but my attitude is I'm on vacation. I will hand wash what must be but there is nothing nicer than sending it out daily not worrying about laundry.

I would either get the unlimited or use some of it for "by the bag" laundry.

oops, I think I used up all your OBC and you may be in the hole ;)

Not to be a "Debbie downer", but do you have to spend it all OR can someone returned in cash at the end of the cruise? I know not all OBC's work the same. Just a thought especially for newer cruisers. Don't want them to think you have to spend it all. Be sure to check. Some OBC is use it or loose and others is not. Just an idea. That's all!

We have $1350 OBC to spend for our 21 day cruise later this year and trying to plan what we could use it on. Gratuities are paid and we get free laundry. We are hoping to use it towards excursions (we love to snorkel) and since my husband doesn't drink I'll have to make up for him!

I don't think we will use it for Internet because if we need it I know in some ports it's easy to get. Have never tried the casino so maybe this would be a good time to use some OBC?

That's a good question. If the OBC is from HAL then it's use it or lose it. If from a TA or purchased on your own then what is not used is credited back to your credit card.

If someone has left over OBC that is "use it or lose it" they can always hit the casino, charge to their on board account at the slots, do some spins and cash out.

With the amount the OP has in HSC, I would say that they won't have a hard time spending it ;)

It was HAL OBC. I agree Kazu after the HSC $600 I'll have $400 which would cover one drink a day for DW and I.:( Maybe use it on Cellar Masters. Went on our last HAL cruise and loved it.

We had cruise line provided OBC on another cruise line. Gratuities had also been compted.

We were in the fortunate position of having more OBC than we needed or cared to spend.

Our solution was to take the money from our OBC in cash from the casino. We paid a 5 percent service charge. But getting 95 percent back was better that abandoning the remaining $200 plus in OBC or spending it on something that we really did not care to. Not certain if you can do this on HAL.

When you get back, could you kindly post if they were offereing the Cellar Master? We were told on the Rotterdam that Seattle had a temporary hold on it while they were evaluating things.

The hold started before we got on (March 30th) and for just 2 or 3 months so hopefully it is over with.

We had no Master Chef Table nor Cellar Master on our 30 day cruise :(. Hopefully it is back. Would love to hear when you return if you don't mind posting please?

Thanks ;)

On our last cruise I think dh and I had $800 obc, but most of it was used for hsc's and drinks. Now that we qualify for free laundry there are no worries there. My upcoming trip we got $200 ea. obc as I said we already get the laundry, we have some kind of drink card (I think) it $200 each also. Oh yea I almost forgot. My sis qualified for a discounted fare. I think she said the amount was $200 less for each of us. Before final payment we will turn our reservation over to a TA that will give us a discount also. All said and done on this upcoming we should realize a discount each of about $800 plus laundry. These little obc etc really add up after a while.
