Amex Booking Offer Returns July 5

Just had my TA charge both on my card and my husband's and within minutes received the emails from Amex saying "great news, you have just used your Amex offer".

To the OP, thanks for the heads up!

If my mother has the Amex offer, does anyone know if the cruise lines and/or TAs would allow me to use her credit card (which is under her name and address, both totally different from mine) to pay for $500 of a booking if she wouldn't be a passenger? Basically, I'm looking to book for just my husband and myself as passengers, but I'm wanting to use the Amex offer from my mother's credit card. Is this doable or a definite no-no? Thanks!

I am not an expert but I cannot think that this would be a problem.

I have paid for cruises for my children. (they are adults)

Do it and if it works, you owe your mother $400. If it does not, you owe her $500. See if she has easy terms or repayment. :)

Notice this link posted over on the HAL boards: http://www.worldsleadingcruiselines.com/amex.html

"Get a $100 statement credit after you use your enrolled American Express® Card to spend $500 or more booking a cruise with Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Cunard or Seabourn between July 5, 2017, and December 31, 2017."

Thanks! We signed up yesterday.

I went in to my Amex account today and added a Blue card. Got all registered and checked my benefits and there it was. Will try to use it on paid in full cruise. See if I can't get casino credit or something. If it doesn't work, there is no interest the first year. Also many more usable offers than my gold Delta card.

I never felt my gold Delta card gave me much value. The platinum Delta card gives you Silver elite status, which does have benefits, but you have to fly Delta a lot for it to be worth the annual fee -- especially since the real Amex Platinum card now gives 5% rebate on airfare purchases.

Do the Delta points which you have accrued leave when you discontinue the card?

I had the Platinum and ditched it because it was a total waste of money.

I downgraded to the Gold and wonder if it is a waste of money for the few flights we take and because we now only fly first class if we fly. We get the free bags anyway.

We have the Amex Platinum.

My favorite co branded is the SPG because I never pay for a hotel any more. ( Obviously I do spend THAT MUCH OOPS. :) )

I've been able to use "other's" cards so all you need to do is give your TA the number and name, and you should be good to go.

And for others, my DD just put $500 of OBC's on her account post final payment date and Amex emailed about a minute later that the credit will be applied.:D

I have not seen this before. I know they now give 5X Membership Rewards points for airline ticket purchases and pre-paid hotels (the latter booked via Amex Travel) but I've never heard or seen of a 5% rebate (statement credit, I assume?) on air fare purchases with the Platinum card and I've had one for many years.

I meant points. Sorry for the confusion. But 5x Amex points is still better than 2x Delta miles (on Amex Delta card).

Let us know if that works on OBC purchases.

Oops. I should have read Redwing 55's post first.

I made a $500 payment on our HAL cruise this past Friday using DH's AMEX card since that is the next cruise on our schedule. This was done through the website of the big online TA I booked through. The statement credit was showing in our AMEX account today! I love this offer!

I'm planning to use my card to make a payment on our CB cruise, but since I transferred the cruise to a TA to take advantage of the June 3 day sale, I will have to make my payment through him. I'm not sure how to do that yet. I'm thinking of waiting until next month to make the qualifying payment to Princess since that is when I had originally planned to start my payments to Princess before I knew the AMEX offer was coming back. The offer says it is good through December. Does anyone think it would be a problem if I wait a month? Has AMEX ever withdrawn this offer early?

Has anyone tried booking excursions on the Princess site to get the $100 credit? I don't see how that's any different than purchasing OBC. This is our first Princess cruise and I'd love to use this promo but our cruise is already paid off. It's only a 5 night though, so I don't really need $500 OBC :)

My DD was in your situation. She just bought $500 of OBC's and she did get the offer. She's planning on using it for Excursions, but her Sept. cruise doesn't require pre-pay.

If you can't use all your OBC, worst case is that you'll get a check after the cruise. But you could just go to the casino and put that amount "on the casino" and then just cash out in the casino.

I have a question regarding the eligible dates for the offer. I have 2 cruises booked Spring 2015 which were booked later June. Does the July 5th beginning effective date mean when the cruise was booked or when a $500 payment is made?

I assume you mean Spring 2018? The July 5th date is when the offer began (I realize the fine print says cruises booked between July 5th and December 31st) but as people are reporting, they have been able to use it for cruises booked prior to July 5th. Me included. ;)

I know the email is computer generated. Did you daughter actually get the $100 credit?

I just checked my son's card (tied to our account) and put it on their and was wondering if i could purchase the drink package or something for us and get the $100 back.

I have an AMEX blue card, all I did to get the offer is make a 500 payment to princess. 1 day after I received the credit

Here is how it looked on my account page. I assume any type of prepayment that is labeled princess or any of the other lines in the offer should work

07 Jul

PRINCESS CRUISES INCVALENCIA

-$100.00

06 Jul

PRINCESS CRUISES PASVALENCIA CA

$500.00

The credit showed up on my DD's account that the card is attached to. It is her card on her account. I'm assuming that any card with the offer will get the credit. We haven't done it yet... but will do it soon. It being charging it to another account "linked" to the main account. FYI... it worked before with the previous similar offer from AMEX.
