Ships that have left or soon will leave the RCI fleet?

Don't stay up all night waiting to get comped! They usually give credit or refund. Maybe a small OBC IF YOU REBOOK WITHIN A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME. The Equinox did this when they canceled all booked Europe summer cruises and brought The ship to Miami.

Strange how I really miss Monarch but can't wait for Majesty to be retired. Not sure what the difference is to me since they are the same ship. Never missed Sovereign either. Loved Monarch, probably due to crew, John Denton, and Marc Walker.

Denton is on Majesty now, and really makes the experience special. Though from what I understand, he is off ship on vacation when I am on board again in October. :(

And I totally agree with you, I would much rather see them get rid of Majesty and not the sweet little Vision ships. MJ just does not have all the perks of the little bit larger ships. And completely agree with you on the super great crew on the Monarch. We loved that ship because of her crew at the time! :)

Wow.

Ha! I fell in love with cruising on my Honeymoon cruise on the Monarch of the Seas. My love of cruising lasted longer than my marriage. But those ships in the Sovereign class were so revolutionary at the time that they made quite an impression. 25 years later ships are 3 times as large. I'm suddenly feeling so old:loudcry:

Cruisers that book cruises they don't plan on taking. Some folks blame that on the new non refundable deposit program. No worries.

I think some call them "markers". Rather than RCI trying to discourage pax from doing that, I wish they would bring back the original Next Cruise Certificates that had OBC still worth something. Easy to collect a few and use them as we see a deal or a whim to go (like I just did on MJ ;)). Wish I had bought a lot more before they made them worthless! :(

Placeholder is also used. I don't think we ever bought any of those open booking certificates.

Nail on the head there. No data to support but one has to believe people book a lot of cruises to hold a place, only to decide months later they can't do cruise or don't want to do cruise. We bought open bookings a number of times simply because we didn't know what cruise or when. Couldn't understand why RCI did away with open bookings? They didn't draw down inventory; RCI had cash on the balance sheet. And booking that way on board was easy: fill out form and drop in in the box outside the NextCruise desk.

Song of America sails as Celestial Olympia.

Song of Norway, Sun Viking and Nordic Prince sailed for many years under different names but are all out of service now.

Song of Norway went to the breakers (scrap yards) in 2014.

Sun Viking is currently operating as a casino ship in Hong Kong.

Nordic Prince went to the breakers in 2015.

I have sailed on three of these ships when starting my RCCL cruise experience. I have a beautiful poster with the names of these ships sailing into a Caribbean port in my house and it reminds me all of the good adventures and friends that I have met sailing these past years daily.

+1

THEY caused the marker problem themselves!
