Worst RCCL Ship

Recommended Posts

The small mezzanine level the elevator stops at requiring taking steps up to the Centrum level is strange and inconvenient. I am able bodied but it definitely posed a problem for others and there were many people on disembarkation day trying to lug their suitcases first up and then back down the stairs to visit guest services or pick up alcohol they had purchased on shore.

With the Centrum style design that was the design before Royal Promenades, it did create the small mezzanine landing which would require steps to be taken. There were ways to avoid that for those that needed to and although it might have been less convenient, it would have avoided the design issue.

Alcohol purchased on shore would have been delivered to rooms on the night before departure and for disembarkation cruisers are zigzagged through the dining room and I can't understand how the steps at all would come into play, unless people were trying to circumvent the process some how.

No other Centrum ship has that tween deck

What didn't you like about the layout of Navigator that you feel was improved on Freedom?

Windjammer is a lot better on the Freedom class. T

The Voyager class feels small, even though it's a quite big ship.

Considering we were on a ship feelt that we were far from the ocean.

We also liked the bigger top/pool deck on Freedom.

I haven't sailed every ship in the fleet, but I would not choose to sail on Majesty again. The ship was filthy and in poor overall shape IMO.

Not sure what has happened since we sailed her. I will say I was apprehensive going on the oldest in the fleet at the time but found her in excellent condition and much larger than I expected. We went the day after Thanksgiving. Had a great cruise. Families with well minded children. Saw only one drunk lady and she was even trying to get the bartender to not pour her so heavy.

I prefer smaller ships. Not sure I will ever set foot on anything as large as Oasis class. Plus I like to cruise for the sake of cruising not to be on a floating amusement park. But there are people who like that so it is a difficult question to answer without knowing what type of food and activities you like.

As proven by this thread 'the worst' ship to one person is dramatically different than what 'the worst' ship is to another....and it all is based on criteria's used to determine the end result.

We sailed on Her Majesty many times on the day after Thanksgiving, for a weekend away after spending Thanksgiving with family. Great time always had onboard. Were there sailings where it was clear, she needed a little more TLC and work than others -- absolutely. I remember once we sat for breakfast at a window table and the window frame and ledge were in need of attention. All I did was go to guest services and mention it and the next day workers were attending to it. Did the experience dampen my cruise...no way.

But a ship is on the open seas with all the moisture and elements 52 weeks a year for 5 years until its' next refurb...add to that some abuse that cruisers give to furniture, chairs, bathrooms and beds (yes, cruisers can cause furniture and other damages) and during the time of its sailing it still needs some TLC and everyone has eyes. I have been on ships were they have 'ready for installation' all kinds of things, while serving cruisers....these ships always have projects going on.

I’m on the grandeur now, and it’s horrible! Worst ship I’ve ever been on, Period! Outdated, terrible food, all around bad! I’ve been on over 30 cruises so I know what I’m talking about. If you’re hungry, too bad bc there’s nowhere to get food throughout the day unless you like the buffet, which I don’t! No pizza, no johnny rockets, no hot dogs! The cabins are so tiny and everything in them is older than dirt. Good luck finding a public bathroom! The tiny casino has no good slot machines. They’re all very old. This ship needs to be put to bed for good. We went to dining room to get breakfast at 9:40 and were told we were too late, it ends at 9:30 am! I’m spending a lot of this cruise, disgusted, bored and very hungry! The internet, when it works is slower than a snail. You can’t access your account on the TV! They crammed us all outside for 45 min during the drill on day 1 and it was freezing!

Honestly, there are way too many beautiful ships to go on than this dump! I HATE the grandeur and I wish I would have read some reviews b4 booking it! Good luck!

I am just looking for opinions on the least desirable ship on the RCCL'S. I see a couple of itineraries that interest me, but do not want to commit to it yet...because I don't know a lot about the ship. (I don't want to name the ship because I want to see what everyone says) I hope this makes sense.

The ship is irrelevant to us. We have found the shorter cruises on any ship less enjoyable. I think the shorter cruises, being lower in price bring in a different clientele. We have notices less courtesy, more visible disregard to staff, rules, and others on shorter sailings. We won't do anything less than 7 nights now. Not that we have not experienced any issues on those, it just seemed more prevalent to us on the shorter sailings.

Yikes! Thank you...and please don't take this the wrong way. I know all of this. I was really looking for specific answers. Maybe I should phrase it differently.

If you had to choose ONE ship to put on the bottom of your list in the RCCL fleet, which one would it be?

Grandeur. And this does not mean that it's a "never again" rating! I will go on it again, 100%, but just to answer your question of which one is my least favorite.

HARMONY!

Bad service, bad layout, no solarium pool!

Different strokes for different folks. If we were to name our favorite and the best Royal ship . . . It would be HARMONY! Great entertainment, great service, great layout. OK, would like a solarium pool - but that’s not a biggie.

Of the ones I've sailed on, I would not sail the Majesty again. Of all the ships, I would prefer Freedom class and newer, but I would consider Voyager class depending on other factors. At this time in my life, I would not likely sail anything smaller than Voyager class.

Funny how that works. At this time in our lives, we prefer Voyager class and smaller..
