As b said, you need to be prepared to show it, if asked. Otherwise be prepared to fork over the $ if asked and you cannot produce it.

Better safe than sorry OR you can chance it and hope your travel insurance will provide coverage under cancel for any reason rider.

bon voyage

The fare rules specify that you must have proof that can be checked at the pier to validate eligibility or else you may have to pay the prevailing rate at check-in or be denied boarding.

We've booked using the military discount several times and have always taken a copy of DH's DD 214 to embarkation. Have never had to show it, but I understand he could be asked to. Better be safe than sorry.

Will they accept a Commowealth of Virginia Veteran ID card? You must be a honorable discharge veteran, submit a DD214 form to DMV, along with other documentation. DMV then verify your information with the Department of Veteran Affairs before they issue your veteran ID card. There is a small cost involved for the ID card.

Your picture is on your Veteran ID card, the date of discharge and the branch of military service you served. DMV also assigned you an ID number.

Veteran ID on Driver's License / Veteran ID Card by State

Please google this topics:

There are now 49 states that are offering veterans designation logos on driver's licenses and ID cards. The state of Washington is the holdout. The 49 states programs make it easier for veterans to receive access to government benefits and discounts at restaurants and retailers, to which they are entitled.

In the past veterans had to carry their DD214 around to prove veteran status or seek a U.S. Government Veteran ID card which actually for some reason doesn't exit.

Proof of veterans status: DD214; must be a honorable discharged veteran, and any other additional documentation.
