MMastell Posted November 2, 2017 #29 Share Posted November 2, 2017 If you have 100 or more shares of Carnival stock you get the benefit. Here are the instructions from Carnival Corp. "Please provide by fax or by mail your name, reservation number, ship and sailing date, along with proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (for example, photocopy of shareholder proxy card, shares certificate, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with your brokerage account number blacked out) to your travel agent or to the cruise line you have selected below." CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE* Guest Administration 3655 N.W. 87th Avenue Miami, FL 33178 Tel 800 438 6744 ext. 70450 Fax 305 406 6102 I just fax it with a cover letter that includes the requested information plus my email address. I also send the second page that is the page of my statement showing my ownership. Blackout the account number and then fax it. I did this on Monday and Tuesday afternoon I received an email telling me the benefit had been applied. In 18 cruises I have done this and I always get a turnaround within one to three days. I did the mail once and it took forever. Hope this helps. Take care, Mike

Take care, Mike Mike, does the CCL cabin credit apply to only Carnival cruises, or any of the CCL owned cruise lines? I just noticed CCL took a recent big dip in prices....might ought to grab my 100 shares today!

SkyMaster Posted November 2, 2017 #33 Share Posted November 2, 2017 I've owned the stock for many years, and have NEVER been denied the benefit. Another GREAT thing to keep in mind, is that the benefit is also good on any of the other CCL owned lines. I've used my stock benefit several times on Princess. ;p "SKY"
Hogladyrider Posted November 2, 2017 #34 Share Posted November 2, 2017 Anyone know if Carnival stock that is owned within a mutual fund also qualifies for the credit? Thanks in advance.
NCTribeFan Posted November 2, 2017 #35 Share Posted November 2, 2017 HAL does not accept email. Must fax it in. Haven't sailed any of the other CCL lines. Only time I've ever had one declined was in January on my HAL sailing. It wasn't free by any means but was a deeply-discounted casino fare. Leaving next week for another HAL cruise; received a casino discount on this one but only about 30%; faxed info in and had email that it was applied 62 minutes later! FTR, emailed my stmt in about 3 weeks prior to my 8/30 cruise on Ecstasy and it was accepted about 2 days later. Please don't force Carnival to go fax/mail only. I mask everything except the last 4 digits of my account number, my name, and my CCL shares. Don't just send in everything with all your personal info all over the documents! Sheesh. With so much identify theft out there, are people really so foolish? Don't answer that. I'm not sure I'd purchase at this price point unless I was planning on sailing many, many cruises under the CCL umbrella. I (luckily) bought in early 2009 when it was at it's bottom (but divs were suspended). Since then, I've sailed often enough on Carnival and Hal to receive about $2,000 in OBC (with another $100 next week, and $250 for my Horizon TA next spring). So, for me, it's been a good investment (in a Roth IRA acct). I would never purchase "just" to get an OBC on a couple of cruises. The stock needs to fit into your investment plan. I also own 100 shares of RCL. Hoping to migrate to X one of these days, but I've read that they're extremely picky about allowing the S/H benefit; that basically if you book any fare that includes one of their many packages, you won't qualify. So have to weigh the benefits. It's gone way up since I purchased a couple of years ago, so it's been a good investment for me, which is why I purchased. I didn't buy it just hoping to get an OBC some day.
thinfool Posted November 2, 2017 #36 Share Posted November 2, 2017 Anyone know if Carnival stock that is owned within a mutual fund also qualifies for the credit? Thanks in advance. Yes, I know...and no, you cannot use it if it is held within a mutual fund. If you have a retirement brokerage account, like Vanguard brokerage, you can directly own the required number of shares of CCL within that account and use it for the benefit. dsotm73 Posted November 2, 2017 #38 Share Posted November 2, 2017 According to my PVP, emailing is no longer a valid way to send in the information. She told me it must be mailed or faxed due to security reasons. Your pvp is mistaken. Sent mine via email three weeks ago, credit showed up in a few days. Computer Nerd Posted November 2, 2017 #40 Share Posted November 2, 2017 I just emailed my info last week and received an email back today saying that they gave me my OBC. I'll have to ask my PVP then. The last time I asked (about 6 months ago) she said they were still not accepting via email. I would prefer they did as I don't own a fax and have to go to work to use their fax machine. Email I could do in my underwear at the computer in my house. I too just received an email back stated my faxed request was approved and applied to my upcoming Glory cruise.

PaperSniper4 Posted November 3, 2017 #44 Share Posted November 3, 2017 I believe that as long as you stay away from the short cruises' date=' you will have no problem with not being party animals. My DHF and I are so far removed from party animals that we're practically dinosaurs and we always have a good time and never feel like things are too chaotic.[/quote'] I agree...cruise length and origin seem to have more to do with the atmosphere on the ship. The "calmest" cruise we ever had was on a CCL Liberty "Med cruise" several years ago. That experience was enough to make me try CCL's 7 day cruises from NOLA, and they generally aren't too wild either. I think CCL has done a lot trying to shed that "party animal" reputation. PaperSniper4 Posted November 4, 2017 #46 Share Posted November 4, 2017 It applies to all cruise lines operated by the Carnival corporation. Hmmmm.....CCL stock is around $65 today.....so $6500 for 100 shares.....I will consider purchasing when we return from our Carnival cruise that sails tomorrow. HAL and Princess are also owned by CCL, and we cruise them often, so sounds like a sound investment to me. Maybe I ought to get some RCI shares too....we sell on Celebrity a lot. The only one we have been denied on was a $100 rate with a $100 OBC on the Sunshine, several years back.
