How to keep tabs on price adjustments?

Recommended Posts

First time cruiser here. How do I keep tabs on price adjustments and special so that I can call the cruise line and get my rate adjusted? Everyone keeps talking about this but I’m not sure how everyone is finding out when prices fluctuate for short periods of time. Is there a special program or website where you can keep an eye on things or do you just keep checking the cruise line website repeatedly like a mad person?

You can come here to CC, and if there is a specific cruise line you are watching, go to their forum (listed alphabetically on main thread page).

Or you can go directly to the cruise line site but some don't work as well as others (looking at you Celebrity!!)

Or, if you have an online TA, you can periodically check their site.

In your other thread (on best way to book), I noted that you can go to the site of the company you named and see what they are offering. I have gotten lower fares from them many times, or had bev packages added for no charge, depending on the particular offer. All cruise lines have them, and they can range from free gratuities, internet, and drink packages to just straight onboard credit (OBC).

You should go check the responses on your other thread soon. It may be removed since you mentioned specific travel agents.

Keep posting if you have more questions, this site is a great resource!

Good luck

ML

Google "cruise price alerts" and several methods will be displayed. The one that sound's 'fishy' is the one I use. It costs 99 cents to monitor all cabin categories for a particular cruise. You set up what prices alerts you want to be informed of and an email alert will be sent when they happen.

Hi

It takes 3-4 mins. to go to the cruise lines website an check. So you do this once a day or one a week, it's up to you. It's just a question if you think it's worth the bother for the chance of saving some money. You don't have to do it, especially if you think this is the action of a "mad person". Very often, prices will go up (possibly considerably). If they go up enough there is no point looking anymore, or maybe just once a month.

good luck

have a great cruise

I use a website that tracks fare prices and sends me an alert email as soon as the price for my stateroom drops below my chosen notification price. We are not permitted to post the URL here on CC but you can do some Google searching to find it.

I use the fishy website as well. At the time I was working nights and it alerted me to a large price drop that went into effect around midnight and was gone less than 12 hours later. Got an upgraded cabin while saving $500. Well worth the $1 fee.
