3/3/18 YC Royal Suite Review

Finally getting around to writing our review of our MSC Seaside cruise. This was our 5th MSC cruise, previously all on the Divina. We stayed in Fort Lauderdale for 3 nights prior to the cruise to rest up.

Embarkation:

The Yacht Club (YC) check in tent is behind the general luggage drop off area. Our usual porter from the Divina was there to take our bags and the shoreside butler tagged our bags. Within 5 minutes we were through security via our butler escort and waiting in the YC lounge. After completing some paperwork and getting our picture taken we were on the ship around noon where our room was already ready and waiting.

Room:

The Royal Suite has a living room with 2 sofas and chairs, a desk, cabinets, stocked mini fridge, fruit and bottled water. The bedroom is large with another desk and end tables. The bathroom has a deep tub and a shower with a rain shower in the ceiling. The bathroom is stocked with MSC lotion, conditioner, hand soap, bath soap, body wash and shampoo. The balcony is huge and had 4 chairs, 2 end tables, 2 sun loungers and a 2 person Jacuzzi.

Lounge/Dining room:

The YC Lounge and dining room are in the forward section in a 2 level layout. We usually ate dinner around 8:30 and unlike on the Divina we had trouble getting the same table each night. They tried to put us with the same waiter but a few times we were placed with another waiter. Food was good as usual.

Pool Deck:

The YC pool deck has 2 hot tubs in the forward section and a pool in the aft part of the YC. There is no covering on the pool unlike on the Divina so this is a sunny part of the ship. Shaded tables are on either side. The food section at the pool is much larger than the Divina and has a much better selection. Everyday at 4 pm they brought out pizza for a snack, this was a treat! Our Royal Suite came with use of a private Cabana and we were surprised at how much we used it! Our butler provided ice and drinks each morning and checked in on us throughout the day

Butler:

Our butler was Vishnu. This was the 3rd time we have had him as our butler and I must say he is an absolute gem! He is kind, caring and always anticipated our needs. He is our favorite MSC employee and always greets us with a smile.

Ship:

The ship was spotless and very modern. When we did venture into the general pool areas during the day for our walk we noticed the loungers were packed. It seemed very crowded and noisy. Made us appreciate the YC all the more. The Miami Beach pool area was a nice place to get drinks in the evening.

Specialty Dining:

We ate in Butchers Cut for dinner and the teppanyaki restaurant for lunch. Both were good but I have to admit the teppanyaki restaurant was better. The service and food quality was more flavorful The bar in this area of the ship has drinks that the YC does not so we would venture here at night for cocktails.

Entertainment/Shore Excursions:

We were so busy doing other activities with friends that we did not go to any shows. We have been to the islands many times so we did our own activities while ashore.

Debarkation:

While we always hate to leave the ship Vishnu makes it so easy. He escorted us past the crowds and we were through Customs in 10 minutes.

Overall:

The Seaside is a wonderful ship. The YC area is superior to that of the Divina because of its size and the fact it is totally self contained. We are cruising on her again this December. Thanks for reading! Happy to respond to any questions that you may have.

We will be in a Royal Suite on the Seaside in 11 days! Can't wait. Did you use the hot tub on the balcony much? We were in the Sofia Loren Suite on the Divina a couple of years ago but the balcony was strange. The Seaside's looks much better.

Yes! We were in the Jacuzzi at least once a day. It has a light in it so you can turn the balcony lights off (they are really bright!) And watch the stars with a soft glow from the tub. It does take a good 20 minutes to fill up so keep that in mind.

Been waiting for a review on the Royal Suite so glad you had a great time. So the Royal does come with a private Cabana I wasn't shore from what I heard from posters. We have a Royal in four weeks. The only thing I am going to miss is not having a table out on the balcony. Can' wait to use the hot tub. Thanks again

Thank you for the review! We’ve been counting down to our stay in the Royal Suite for about a year now, and still have 6 months to wait. So excited to hear that Vishnu was your butler. He IS fantastic! Which suite were you in—port side or starboard side? Also excited to hear that you got a cabana. The first reviewers in December said that the Royal Suite did not come with a cabana. Sorry to hear there is still no dining table on the deck as hyped by MSC in their preview video. We have our two adult children and their significant others staying in the YC with us, and were looking forward to having some meals as a family at that table. It was one of the reasons we booked the suite. Thanks for your review.
