We have tickets for Music Man on a Wednesday night.....trying to decide what clothes we need to keep out for that outing?  Do people still 'dress up' for the theater?

Please update this thread after the play with your thoughts.

Some of those old ones are valuable.  Ours went back to the 1980s.  Sold some signed ones, like a Sondheim one (he was at one of his shows) right after he passed away, and a Moulin Rouge one signed by the male lead.  It was from the Boston opening night and we listed it the night he won the Tony award.

All of mine are in mint condition . I have the ticket stubs from most .

eBay could be a good friend to your retirement or vacation funds!

My memorabilia paid for our coast to coast move.

Wow.Over the years I have sold many LP’s and made nice money doing so but I also have regrets about not keeping them.I still have 106 that I will never sell.

My LPs brought very little money.  $240 for about a dozen of them and they kindly gave me another $20 for the remaining 200 of Pop, Classical, and Big Band records.  Just glad I didn't have to throw them away or bring them with me.

Autograph and Ticket Stub collection did much better.  Old NBA Playoff stubs sold for crazy money on eBay and a couple NBA autographs I collected in the 1980's brought four figures each.

Surprisingly, early SuperBowl ticket stubs and NFL Championship (pre Superbowl era) stubs were not very desired.

Turn that stash into cash!  We threw out so many autographs, but there were a few that were worth listing for sale.  I can't tell you how many signed baseballs we gave away to kids to play with.

In 1994 I was a volunteer for the Make A Wish Foundation. On one Sunday there was a Sports show.We invited pro athletes of every sport to attend .

Two players who I shall not name asked for big bucks to attend.Every other person came, donated their time and came with hundreds of sign memorabilia to give to the kids and to those of us working and volunteering.I came home that night with many autographs.

I have several hundred albums from the 60’s to 80’s , also a hundred 45’s , hundreds of baseball cards , my prize possessions are a signed Mickey Mantle baseball and a signed Mickey Mantle sports illustrated plaque. Also have silver coins going back a couple of centuries, my wife dad collected them and we got them after her mother passed , I got a estimate on some ten years ago and they would have given me 2k . We also have a hundred or more playbills, I need to start converting this into money for cruises, right now not needed since my wife is still working and has a very good job, she will retire in a few years.

I met Mickey at a Sports Dinner in the very early 1970s and have a signed Polaroid of him and me from that night.  He was signing a book he wrote, around 20 years ago, and my wife went to the signing to get a copy and took that old photo with her.  "That was a long time ago, Lady" The Commerce Comet said to my wife.

Something interesting about autographs. Many years ago I wrote a book that was only available in paperback. The Publisher believed that it would sell better. The cost to buy a copy was $5.00.

Currently Amazon Books and a NY book store are selling autographed copies for $27.00.I have absolutely no idea why.

I have written other things but I am not famous .

He was at a book signing in Dallas after one of his books, they told us do not prebuy because Mickey would only be there for a limited time, of course he was still sign when they ran out of books 😢😢, there is a Mickey Mantle restaurant in Winstar casino which is the biggest casino in the world , nice place we stop there and spend the night once in a while .

We always visited his restaurant on Central Park south on all of our visits to New York City, hoping he would be there , it was just a short walk from our hotel. One of the radio personalities said she worked in a bar in Dallas that he would frequent, she said he would always have a crème de mint as his last drink to supposedly hide the liquor from his breath , I sure almost every cop in New York would give him a break if caught having a few too many.

Ahem, getting back to musicals and plays… 😊

My wife and I were in London last week and saw “SIX” there, our fourth time seeing this wonderful show, but the first time in the UK. It was the best production we’ve seen. And, as was the case here, it can be special to see a show in the country where it originated — especially one like this that is about some of that country’s history.

Added bonus: this great sign in the “Ladies”  room, and I assume in the “Gents” as well. If you’ve seen the show, you know that the admonition not to sing or dance along until invited is perfect. And if you aren’t dancing your way out of this show, well, I’m sorry for you. 😂

My brother flew in yesterday for the wedding today, he house in Ft Myer was flooded, he had thousands of playbills most in excellent shape he inherited many from friends who passed his collection started from the 1920’s to the present they were all destroyed from the flood , I am sure they were worth thousands of dollars. Having a great family reunion in Denver.

1776 not getting that backing many thought it would get with the change of concept.

Should stay with the original.

I'm seeing it in December and will post my thoughts. In the meantime, some of the reviews were total raves (including WSJ; Peter Marks/Wash Post).
