Anytime dining question

Does everyone in the cabin have to eat at the same time? If hubby and I want to eat earlier, can we eat in the MDR and the kids (19 &17) eat later in the MDR?

Yes, Everyone can eat as they please. They just tell the people seating them what cabin they are in and they can then be seated. It is nice though for families to sometimes plan to eat together because the rest of the day they may all be running around doing separate things.

Could we go at 5:45 and then again at 9?

They ask for your room number, I think this is to verify you are in the correct seating (anytime vs. traditional). I would think you could be seated twice (and makes sense for a later dessert), but would advise checking with your Maitre D on embarkation day just to be sure.

I couldnt even imagine doing that--LOL

and isnt the anytime dining room-- so many seats for so many people..

i could imagine if half the people did that-

but at 9 or so it would cut into the show times

I doubt the OP is suggesting two full meals at 5:30 and 9, but rather splitting the meal (apps and entree early, coffee & dessert later). I doubt most passengers would do it, but I think it's an interesting option. I know we've had nights where the entrees didn't look good but desserts did, and we just opted for lido. We might consider going to MDR late just for dessert next cruise (or just have a lighter meal of apps, salad & dessert and skip the entree).

I love the idea of split the meal. May have to try anytime dining.

Yep! I appreciate the different points of view and ways of thinking on this site - always gives me something new to try for the next cruise to make it better:D
