Rare ColeThornton Posted May 31, 2018 #226 Share Posted May 31, 2018 How about we just have classes for the Sea Turtles and teach them not to inhale straws. How dumb are they, anyway?
sunshine55 Posted May 31, 2018 #227 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Just bought my stainless steel straws as well for my upcoming cruise. They came with three straight straws and three that have a bend in them - love them! Helping save the ocean one margarita at a time! :D:D LOL!! Bought the same package of straws. You just have to remember to take your straw out of the glass We just returned from a 7-day cruise. On the 6th night I put my empty glass on bar at O'Sheehans without taking out the straw and walked away. Took me about 5 minutes later that I realized my straw was still in the glass. Went back and waved down the bartender and he was nice enough to put the glass in a secure area and picked up the glass and I took it out. So don't forget to take the straw out...lol

CaptnG Posted May 31, 2018 #230 Share Posted May 31, 2018 So now we need a combo lanyard that holds our keycard and reusable straw.....hard to picture but surely someone will come up with it:confused: I recently ordered something called the final straw, it’s collapsible and has a key chain storage case. Little pricey, but I’m just not willing to go without a straw, and i wanted something that was little and easy to carry. Medtech2 Posted June 1, 2018 #231 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Okay, just to play devil’s advocate.....just how diligent will everyone be with their straw cleaning? Are you bringing dish soap? Going to use hand soap? You won’t be able to see all the goo and mold in a metal straw.... Rather than carrying around a straw that I might forget or might drip all over I think I might just carry an insulated tumbler that has a straw and dump my drinks in it... Then again, is anyone just bringing their own packages of disposable ones?
meglet Posted June 1, 2018 #232 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Sorry I don't have the energy to read through all the responses, but if I bring some that I steal from Dunkin Donuts, will they be confiscated at the pier?

HeyYouKidsGetOffMyLawn Posted June 1, 2018 #238 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Then again, is anyone just bringing their own packages of disposable ones? I'm leaving today on the Sun and I've packed a few hundred biodegradable paper straws to give away to strangers. I'm also bringing a package of reusable plastic straws for myself. We shall be victorious. #strawgate2018.

Strawage fee...lol! I purchased a small package of paper straws at a local party supply store for my upcoming cruise. They are super cute and weigh almost nothing. I'm on vacation. The last thing I want to do is worry about cleaning out a metal straw, but to each his own.
Yinster Posted June 1, 2018 #243 Share Posted June 1, 2018 We were in breakaway last week. How we missed the straws. Ended up picking up straws from McDonald's in one of the ports to use on board
Rare calicakes Posted June 1, 2018 #244 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Target has packages of paper straws in the dollar spot. Lots of fun colors and patterns. I've been using a stainless straw in my iced coffee for over 8 years!! I always bring it with me on vacation, cruise or not. I prefer stainless, the beverages are colder going down. Sand and Seas Posted June 1, 2018 #246 Share Posted June 1, 2018 I'm debating between bringing paper straws or going with the metal. Just not sure about how easy it would be to keep that metal straw clean onboard ship. Can you picture trying to rinse those out in the sinks onboard? Not easy:confused:

eddeb Posted June 1, 2018 #248 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Hey fellow cruisers, You can buy bulk paper straws on Amazon, put them in a cup, take them by the bars and charge folks $1 each. If we sell 2,000 straws, we can pay for half of our cruise! That is before the specialty restaurants, $9 per per person go carts, tips, and casino of course! lol Yes folks they also have $15 and 18 dollar ice cream sundaes on the Bliss. I'd like two please. :) Bring da Labstah back! May your seas be flat, and your tummies be fat... Ed and Deb Tampa Bay:D
